The Sr. Business Systems Analyst – Payroll & Benefits (Analyst) will provide requirements, analysis, design, testing, deployment, and support of operational and analytical systems related to payroll & benefits. This position will provide a high level of customer service with deep focus on quality and subject matter expertise within payroll and benefits.
The Sr. Business Systems Analyst will be involved with user reviews and provide hands on technical assistance. The incumbent shall liaison between University’s payroll and benefits application stakeholders and the Department of Information Technology (DIT).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2-4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. This position requires a background check including Criminal History Screening, Education/Degree/Certifications Verification, Social Security Number Trace, Sex Offender Registry Search, Prior Employment Verification, and Credit.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge directly related to payroll & benefits systems
Understanding of reporting and analytics using Business Intelligence
Working knowledge on Database and/or Business Intelligence tools
Job Duties Include:
Applies functional, analytical and technical skills to work directly with Payroll and Benefits, Division of Information Technology (DIT) and other staff as necessary to drive systems and analytical projects/upgrades to schedule completion.
Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves problems within predetermined time frame in support of systems in production.
Acts as Payroll and Benefits subject matter expert with deep understanding of information and underlying data models within the systems.
Assists the data steward, by constantly looking for ways to improve data quality across systems and processes.
Interacts with business users to gather requirements and analyze functional/technical specifications.
Supports or leads (depending on size/scope) the deployment of systems and analytics project through the methodology of the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC).
Plans, designs and executes application testing, systems integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) through the development of comprehensive test scenarios.
Tests data necessary to effectively validate quality of operational and analytical systems. Oversees end user verification, approvals and testing sessions as directed. Develops test cases, assists end users with testing document results and performs enrollment processes.
Supports interfaces and integrations with related applications across the University to ensure timely processing of transactions through the systems.
Maintains system processes and configurations centrally across Finance.
Documents and trains end users around systems/analytics and related processes.
Works collaboratively with the Payroll and Benefits Organization to facilitate yearly benefits enrollment; recommends quality control procedures to enrollment processes.
