The Sr. HR Generalist is responsible for oversight and implementation of the three Coating Plant's human resources function for a diverse client group of salaried and hourly employees. This positions will oversee tactical employee relation issues, recruitment, compensation, benefits, payroll processing, ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and corporate requirements, and EHS tracking & safety training. In addition, the incumbent will assist in training and development, including monitoring of Corporate Training Budget. The Sr. Human Resource Generalist is also responsible for timely and accurate completion of departmental reports and recordkeeping.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain proper documentation and serve as the primary point of contact for most employee relations issues and vendor/supplier communication. Generate ideas for and coordinate employee relations activities that foster employee morale and interaction.  Ensure consistent application of all corporate and plant policies and practices.  Communicate HR programs and policies to plant staff and address all related questions.  Spend time walking the production floor, facilitate conflict resolution and provide coaching and feedback as appropriate. Assist Area HR Manager in conducting investigations of potential violations of company polices as needed.

Participate in various aspects of safety, including conducting job safety analyses, addressing root cause of safety incidents and participating in safety audits. Compile and analyze monthly and annual statistics.  Prepare and distribute various reports. Assist in the Environmental, Health & Safety facility reporting per corporate requirements and participate in the plant’s EH&S management system.

Audit and Process Payroll on a weekly basis for all hourly and Salary Non-Exempt employees at the Coatings locations. Partner with compensation to review positions and determine the need for job description and/or salary grade changes. Process routine hourly and salary pay adjustments.

Manage hourly recruiting, coordinate salaried recruiting, and conduct on-boarding and new hire orientation.

Manage disability processes with employees and third party administrators for Workers' Compensation, Short Term Disability and FMLA while ensuring adherence to ADA and HIPAA.

Participate with the communication and administration of the benefits open enrollment process. Participate in corporate HR project teams and programs and other cross-functional initiatives.

May plan, coordinate and facilitate various training programs for all three coatings locations as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.


A Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business Administration along with 5 years of demonstrated HR/employee relations experience and OSHA knowledge. Qualified candidates must be familiar with standard HR concepts, practices, and procedures.  These candidates should possess demonstrated problem-solving abilities along with strong time management & prioritization skills. These candidates should possess advanced communication skills that can be utilized in day to day interactions with all levels of the workforce.  Qualified candidates should also possess intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite as well as demonstrated experience managing conflict, project management & completion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred qualifications:

HR experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, experience with an applicant tracking system, and SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR Certification.
