serves in support of the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 8) Consolidated Retirement Unit (CRU)located in the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network Office in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Perform basic/benefits/retirement support that requires knowledge of forms, regulatory authorities, and action codes pertaining to different pay authorities and employee categories.
Input retirement processing and codes into automated VA HR System
Review benefits/retirement documentation to ensure they are complete and in proper format.
Consult with supervisory officials to certify facts related to employee benefits/retirement and to correct discrepancies in documentation.
Code personnel actions and types corresponding remarks pertaining to retirement actions.
Make copies and maintain a complete filing system of benefits/retirement documentation.
Organize all aspects of training and travel arrangements for VISN sponsored training/travel.
Collect, compile, and track HR and Benefits/Retirement program data and statistical information in support of the VISN HR program.
Assist in the planning, review, and reporting of statistical data results of program/project studies.
Enter information into an automated tracking system and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Provide general clerical public contact support services such as answering the telephone and referring visitors.
Provide information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, as well as other information such as status of reports, suspense dates, and procedural requirements
Provide general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments, or consolidating/coordinating submittals of information.
Research files and assemble background information on incoming material prior to referral to specialists.
Perform time and attendance records keeping duties for the office
Selection may be made at either the GS-06 OR GS-07 grade level. The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Time-In-Grade: GS-05 for 1 year in order to be eligible for GS-06. GS-06 for 1 year in order to be eligible for GS-07.

Typing. Applicants for this position must meet the typing requirement of at least 40 WPM. You may meet the requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying your proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
For the GS-06:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include:
* Reviewing employee personnel documentation for content and format;
* Entering employee personnel information into automated tracking systems;
* Providing information regarding office functions;
* Protecting sensitive employee personnel data.
For the GS-07:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include:
* Working with employee benefits and/or retirements;
* Coding retirement actions;
* Collecting and tracking HR program data;
* Generating working documents using computer software;
* Writing correspondence documents;
* Researching background information.

: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The work is primarily sedentary, but may require some walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and carrying objects such as files/binders, etc. Work also requires performing a sizeable amount of keyboarding duties.
There is no educational substitution at either grade level.
