Regional HQ & Division Support Center location in Independence, OH!


What you will do:

The Human Resources

Director (HRD) is responsible for supporting the Great Lakes regional company

leadership team by managing workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee

and labor relations, employee engagement and retention, development, and succession

planning.  Responsible for compliant implementation of local Human

Resources policies and programs, if necessary or required by State Law and in

coordination with Corporate.  The HRD will manage a high performing

team of human resources professionals including field Human Resource Managers

who provide human resources partnering in the region as well as collaboration

and guidance with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development functions.   Assists

and advises senior management on Human Resource opportunities, challenges,

solutions and recommendations across the specified region and beyond.  The

candidate will be an experienced strategic human resources business partner

that has a thorough understanding and previous experience with matters involving

human resource best practices in talent management including selection,

retention, engagement and cultivating effective labor and employee relations

and compliance.  


Your responsibilities:


with the VPHR to execute the Regional/ Division/ Corporate human resource

strategy, in concert with the Regional Company (RC) strategy and initiatives.Supports

the RC Leadership Team with an emphasis on workforce planning, selection,

retention, engagement and succession planning.Provides

leadership to maintain and enhance effective labor (in coordination with the

Labor team) and employee relations practices necessary to allow Airgas to

recruit and retain the best diverse talent, promote a high level of employee

morale and minimize risk to the organization.Implements

and ensures compliance with Airgas Human Resource policies, practices, and

legal requirements.  Minimizes risk to the company by ensuring

consistent execution of such through senior leaders and line management in the


for efficient talent acquisition (TA) execution, in alignment with the division

TA and Airgas functional model, utilizing consistent practices and approaches

to hire quality talent.Ensure

compliance with learning and development goals and objectives as set forth by

the Sr. Learning & Development Manager.Ensures

compliance with compensation strategies and structure developed by the

Corporate Compensation/ and division total rewards.Builds

and maintains strong relationships with the regional company associates,

managers and leadership, and the cross-regional/ colleagues.Other

duties as assigned.Ensure

region’s compliance with state and local regulatory requirements.Develop

and maintain strategies around recruitment and staffing, labor and employee

relations, safety compliance, benefits, and compensation.The

What you will need:


college degree from an accredited institution in HR, Business or related field


of three years’ experience in managing a team required.Experience

leading human resources for a P&L preferred.Established

track record of success in matters related to managing human resources in a mid

to large sized manufacturing and/or distribution company with remote locations.Experienced

and effective in working in a matrix organizational structure (HR/Business)Change

management capabilitiesAbility

to navigate effectively in ambiguity Strong

computer skills including Microsoft Office products.Effective

verbal and written communication and ability to present concepts, new

processes, change.Team

player; strong collaboration skills; ability to influence down, across, up.Self-starter;

self-motivated, operates with a sense of urgency; ability to work


interacting with a wide variety of people with different personalities and

backgrounds within Airgas and outside the Company.Demonstrate

the influencing and leadership skills required to drive continuous improvement

of processes to maximize the Company, Divisional, and Regional Company’s

performance.  Moderate

regional travel (mostly on the road up to 20-30%).Minimal

to moderate overnight travel.  Lives

by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures

which are applicable to this position’s responsibilities.
