Gates is looking for a Sr. Manager of Global Compensation who will be located out of either our downtown Denver, CO or Rochester Hills, MI office. In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for administering the company's broad-based compensation and incentive programs.
  • Work with the compensation team to design and implement compensation programs, policies and procedures that are compelling, competitive, locally compliant, and equitable.
  • Oversee the planning, design, implementation, and administration of Gates annual salary increase process that aligns with the Company's compensation philosophy.
  • Provide consultation in the design, development, and implementation of variable compensation plans, including the Company's global bonus, sales, and manufacturing incentive plans.
  • Oversee a global team of 4 direct reports.


Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Conducting robust and meaningful analysis for management to use in making decisions related to compensation programs.
  • Managing global survey participation, submission, and purchases; monitor and evaluate benchmark data, pay structures, economic trends & projections and recommend changes as appropriate to maintain a competitive market position and internal equity.
  • Providing guidance on job evaluations and recommendations to HR Business Partners and Recruiting.
  • Consulting and participating in the design, implementation and administration of sales and manufacturing incentive plans and providing review of monthly payout calculations.
  • Developing and presenting compensation training to HR Business Partners and management related to compensation fundamentals, global pay structures and pay for performance philosophy and application.
  • Managing the quarterly audit of the Company's annual bonus plan eligibility and the year-end funding allocations, manager planning, system calculations and timely global payouts.
  • Overseeing the Company's compensation benchmarking tool to ensure accuracy; managing the vendor to ensure the tool's functionality is up to date and supports the global compensation function and the Company's business objectives.
  • Supporting and/or leading special projects, as needed, such as acquisition integration, organizational re-structuring, systems implementation, etc.




  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, or related field
  • 11+ years of progressive compensation and management experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Experience with job evaluation and compensation planning tools
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills including expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle and HRIS
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic direction, planning, and requirements to execute the design, implementation, communication, and administration of the company's global compensation programs
  • Ability to translate the technical nature of compensation for clear stakeholder understanding
  • Demonstrated maturity in dealing with all levels of associates in a fast-paced environment and the ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external vendors and customers 
  • Project management expertise and demonstrated program design and management skills
  • Aptitude and experience working across geographic borders 
  • May be required to travel approximately 10% of the time, as needed
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship


  • Master's degree strongly preferred
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) a plus



  • Full-Time: $125,900.00 - $179,900.00 / annually
  • Bonus Eligible
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
