Chicago House and Social Service Agency serves individuals and families by providing housing, employment services, medical linkages, HIV prevention services, and other supportive services to those who are disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, poverty, homelessness, and/or gender nonconformity. All Chicago House services are provided without discrimination and are explicitly designed to guide people towards wholeness and self-sufficiency. Chicago House is seeking a Career Specialist to work with the Employment Program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. Manage an assigned caseload of 30 participants disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, disability, poverty, homelessness and/or gender nonconformity. Assist with conducting intakes, familiarizing potential clients with program details and expectations, and collecting necessary documentation. Assist Senior Career Specialist with facilitating the monthly job readiness workshop. Manage all paperwork, meeting/interviews, and necessary documentation as required to fulfill the scopes and requirements of the grants. Complete a comprehensive psychosocial with each new client. Assess prospective participants’ ability to become employed and, in cooperation with participants, develop an initial work plan that identifies personal and career goals. Provide career counseling and assist in the development of short/long term employment goals. Coordinate referrals to related supportive services, including benefits counseling, housing, mental health services, substance use services, medical services, etc. Assist participants with job search, interview, resume and cover letter writing skill development.  Evaluate and monitor program participants' progress towards completing employment preparation components and achieving career goals. Meet at least weekly with program participants to review and monitor progress towards completing short-term and long-term goals identified in work plans and revise work plans when appropriate.  Facilitate job club to assist participants in taking positive steps towards educational and vocational goals. Facilitate a weekly drop-in to help those not enrolled with the program with the computers, job searching, and conduct intakes as needed  Facilitate drop-in to help those not enrolled with the program with the computers, job searching, and conducting intake as needed Implement post-employment services aimed at supporting job maintenance and retention. Coordinate services between external providers, participant and other Employment staff to promote collaboration and to advocate on behalf of participant, as needed. Maintain record keeping procedures which include writing daily case notes on participants' progress, participants’ employment status and completing monthly reports.  Update required data on a timely basis within the Access database. Assist Career Services Manager and Director of Employment Services in preparation for program reports as well as program audits conducted by government contractors. Responsible for managing the client incentive and transportation process Manages the client discharge process for the program Attend Chicago House staff meetings and group supervision meetings, as required. Establish networking linkages with other agencies. Represent Chicago House at meetings and functions addressing workforce development issues, and employment and retention issues. Represent Chicago House at contractor meetings and at other community meetings when applicable. Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is required, MSW, or training in Vocational Rehab preferred; Minimum of 2 years working in social work and/or employment services is required; Experience practicing Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and/or Supported Employment required. Familiarity with HIV/AIDS, the LGBTQ Community, Substance Use, Mental Health, and Post-Correctional care preferred; Previous case management and/or job development experience preferred; Outgoing and assertive personality; Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team in a clinical and non clinical setting; Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and documentation skills.
