rnPOSITION SUMMARY:
rnUnder the direction of administration, the Behavior Resource Specialist serves in a modified teaching capacity to provide proactive behavior interventions for students with significant emotional/behavior, academic and social concerns. Serves as a resource for instructional staff, parents and the school community to effectively support the positive behavior support program system of the school.

rn$22.86/hr-$28.56/hr (dependent on qualifications and experience)

rn Ability to understand the developmental and psychological links to the emotional and behavioral needs of students
rn Ability to form strong and positive relationships with students and staff to support students in the development of self-regulation skills and in their overall social, emotional and academic growth
rn Ability to foster independence, self-esteem and self-confidence in students
rn Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques
rn Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing
rn Ability to exhibit emotional control, patience and persistence in extremely stressful situations
rn Skill at maintaining acceptable tolerance levels for appropriate student behaviors
rn Ability to observe, chart and specifically describe student behaviors
rn Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and school resource

rnESSENTIAL DUTIES: Manages and coordinates the behavior resource room and assigned support staff to provide positive behavioral/emotional interventions and supports for students
rn Develops, coordinates and implements all positive interventions for identified students including daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and yearly goals and activities
rn Teaches social skills and affective curriculum within the resource room and classroom settings and provides individual behavior therapy to students as required
rn Assists administrators with parent communication as requested and provides parent information and education relating to the positive behavior support program of the school
rn Works with building and district administration in the development and implementation of a robust program of positive and proactive behavior strategies and supports for the school community
rn Serves as a consultant to instructional staff to increase academic success for students with challenging behaviors and to decrease challenging student behavior in classrooms
rn Conducts classroom observations, behavior analysis and interventions with identified students as requested by the building administrator or instructional staff
rn Serves as a member of the school PBIS team
rn Attends and participates in education staffings and in the development and implementation of behavior supports for students on IEPs as needed
rn Assists in classrooms to meet individual and group needs as requested by instructional staff
rn Collects, reports and summarizes behavioral data
rn Other duties as assigned
