Principal Counsel – International Employment Law

Tyson’s People Law group is seeking to add new team members to our growing in-house global employment and labor law practice group.

The employment and labor positions are responsible for managing complex labor and employment law matters that affect the company and for advising in-house business clients. Candidates must be skilled at minimizing and retiring employment and labor law risk in a strategic, yet cost-effective manner. Candidates should possess international employment law experience. Candidates should possess a high level of proficiency in one or more of the following subjects: complex employment law advice and counsel, traditional labor law, international law or employment litigation. Candidates should be familiar with both standard and complex legal concepts, practices, and procedures.

The international employment position is responsible for managing complex international employment legal matters that affect the company including advising in-house business clients on risk, managing international employment litigation, and driving consistency among business units.

All candidates must be able to work collaboratively with other legal team members and Tyson’s Human Resources teams. Candidates must exhibit the executive presence, forward thinking, competence, and professionalism needed to earn the trust of members of the company’s senior management team.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

Experience: 10 plus years of legal experience or equivalent combination of experience, specialized certification, licensure or advanced degree with experience in international employment law

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Special Skills: A team player who effectively communicates with and responds to clients in a timely manner. Must work independently with outside counsel and exercise excellent judgment in performing all tasks.

Supervisory: Manage outside counsel and possible project leadership of other in-house attorneys, functional leaders, paralegals, or administrative assistants.

Travel: Some travel may be required.
