Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for an HR Generalist with previous experience in human resources, specifically craft and skilled labor. Candidate will be responsible for administering HR policies for US Contractor in Industrial Construction. Major responsibilities will include HRIS analysis and reporting, investigating employee complaints, employee engagement, analysis, administration and reporting of compensation structure, workforce planning activities, and training. Travel, generally to job sites, will vary but could be as high as 30% to 40% at times.

Essential Functions

* Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures
* Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
* Thoroughly understands HRIS systems and owns required reporting for multiple payrolls for both craft and administrative/professional employees; maintains human resource information system and payroll database records, updates changes, monitors ancillary payment tracking, and designs and produces ad hoc reports
* Assists internal customers in on-line HR programs such as performance evaluations, tracking objectives, etc.
* Supports employees in navigation of benefits plan enrollment and use, system change reporting, communicating 1st level benefit information to employees and assisting craft employees in resolving benefits issues
* Takes employee relations complaints, performs investigations, and works closely with the Sr Manager or Sr Generalist of P&O to resolve issues; provides counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing; manages and maintains exit interview trending data
* Coordinates, participates and delivers information for new hire orientation
* Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals; Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed
* Delivers various training modules to exempt and non-exempt employee audiences
* Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
* Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

Skills / Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree and three to five years' human resource experience, or a master's degree in human resource management and two years' experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience
* Experience in construction, transportation or skilled-trade industry
* Proven capabilities in Human Resources
* HRIS integration experience
* Basic employee relations and employee complaint investigative experience
* Problem Solving/Analysis skills, ability to research policies, regulations, legal compliance and other issues
* Capable of time management, juggling multiple objectives, working to a deadline and managing projects
* Able to communicate at all levels of the organization, Bilingual in Spanish a strong plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

* PHR or SHRM-SCP certification is not required but is beneficial to the role
* Bilingual in Spanish
* Thorough understanding and ability in use of Excel
* Competence in MS Office

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines at all levels of the organization
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
* Ability to write simple correspondence
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Travel

Travel will vary but could be as high as 30% to 40% at times
