Rural Institute

invites applications for

Family Resource Specialist

. The Family Resource Specialist position works under the supervision of the Family-to-Family Health Information (F2FHIC) Center Coordinator. This person is an individual with experience as a family member of a child with chronic, physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition that requires health and related services beyond that required by children generally.

Responsibilities:

They will locate resources, research answers to family and provider questions, provide families with practical support, organize resources, and help with other projects as directed by the Center Coordinator. This person will also foster relationships and partnerships to help families effectively navigate the systems.

Contribute to planning and implementation of F2FHIC events, in-person and virtual.

Write, edit and review emails to families, professionals and partners.

Create tip sheets and other resources for families, professionals and partners.

Actively participate on local, state, regional or national level committees and boards as assigned by the F2FHIC Coordinator, providing the voice of experience as a family member/caregiver of a child with chronic, physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition that requires health and related services beyond that required by children generally.

Input demographic data create and print reports using Salesforce.

Participate in the ongoing strategic planning and plan implementation for the F2FHIC.

Assist families in linking and advocating for appropriate services, in and out of traditional systems.

Will supervise volunteers and nursing students to ensure that deadlines are met and provide check ins. They will also familiarize volunteers and nursing students with the F2FHIC mission, policies and procedures.

Required Skills

Proficient computer use – MS Excel, Outlook, and Word, PowerPoint, Zoom

Excellent interpersonal communication (written/verbal) and professional collaboration skills.

Strong initiative, ability to self-manage time, and independence with complex task completion.

Ability to modify communications for diverse audiences.

Ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems and make decisions, both in group settings and independently

Minimum Required Experience

High School diploma, or equivalency, with equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with equivalent work experience.

Experience as a family member/caregiver of a child with chronic, physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition that requires health and related services beyond that required by children generally.

Experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and assisting family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems.
