Overall Job Objective Description and Functions Open Until Filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Wyoming Retirement Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Staff Development Coordinator/MDS Assistant. The individual in this position will provide educational opportunities and track completed education for all staff at the Wyoming Retirement Center including CPR, employee health and safety, nursing in-services, electronic health records training of staff, and orientation; educate nursing staff at the direction of the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing; and will be required to work as a floor nurse two days per month and assist with physician rounds on an as needed basis. Also, assists MDS Coordinator as directed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level. Conduct training throughout the month for new and on-going education programs.Educate/train staff on safety/environmental/QA issues as needed.Document and track all training and education.Conduct MDS duties as assigned by MDS Coordinator. Educate/train staff on required MDS assessments and evaluation tools. Assist with completion of performance evaluations for nursing staff, observe work concerns for nursing staff and provide supervision/ instruction as needed for quality care.Participate in interviews of nursing applicants. Provide professional nursing services to residents. Implement and evaluate the nursing care plans. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants who have one (1) year of experience in long term care and those who are eligible for licensure as an RN in the State of Wyoming.KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Nursing Practice.Skilled in communication, organization, time management and team building.Proficient in computer and word processing skills.Knowledge of supervisory and performance evaluation skills.Ability to adapt teaching style and techniques to different learning stylesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing) Experience:1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming OR Education & Experience Substitution:4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Must be able to:Lift/transfer patients to different positions.Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.Work evenings, nights and /or weekends when the situation requires it.NOTES: FLSA: Non-exemptPosition is full-timeAll new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
