The primary role of this position is to act as the Human Resources (onboarding) liaison for 2 Basic Science Departments: Pharmacology & Toxicology and Microbiology & Immunology. This includes acting as the primary liaison between OIA (Office of International Affairs) for all related matters. This position serves all academic and staff personnel. Will also serve as the personal/administrative assistant for the MCIM (not PHTX) Chair.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

*Assist faculty and staff with human resource administration (onboarding) including recruiting, hiring, performance management, employee training and development, new hire orientation, cross-training and employee communications. Act as the expert for international affairs. This includes all current/pertinent Human Resources functions as defined by **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policy and protocol. Assist in hiring academic positions including tenure track faculty, postdoctoral fellows, research associates and scientists. Develop advertising plan for new positions and work with Faculty Advancement & Administration and the Office of Equal Opportunity in the recruitment and onboarding of new faculty and staff. Work within all University systems: HRMS, People Admin, Peoplesoft, IStart, I-9, Background Check, KFS, Chrome River, etc.

*Work with faculty and staff to implement performance appraisal process. Ensure that evaluations are conducted on an annual basis with input from all supervisors. Oversee the annual review process for faculty.

*Act as the personal and administrative assistant for the Chair of Microbiology and Immunology.

*Supervise the promotion and tenure process for faculty (MCIM).

*Oversee the maintenance of staff records including but not limited to promotions, transfers, supplements, and related compensation data. Create reports to show data on employee hiring, turnover and vacant positions. Assist, as needed, in the review of current positions to better streamline the shared services model.

*Work with other Department Administrative staff to further promote and streamline the shared services model. Assist other staff in their daily routines as needed. All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree, plus 2 years of related experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of human resource management including recruitment, selection, training and employee relations. Knowledge of university promotion and tenure process. Strong interpersonal skills. Active listening, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, constant interruptions and dealing with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

BS or equivalency with a 2:1 ratio.
3 to 5 years of related experience.
