The Human Resources Business Partner provides proactive and strategic HR consultancy and coaching to leaders, managers and employees within assigned client groups to help drive business strategy and solutions. In coordination with HR subject matter experts, the HRBP will partner with client groups on matters related to employee relations, performance management, leave management, talent acquisition, employee engagement, workforce planning and management, organizational and leadership development, change management and compensation planning/implementation.

The HRBP will also provide support for the Compensation Management program as well as special projects as assigned.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

Provide proactive and strategic counsel, communications, and HR support to assigned client groups to drive toward achievement of business goals through effective talent management strategies.

Serve as a resource for all employees within assigned client groups for any HR questions/concerns; directing employees to subject matter experts within HR as necessary.

Responsible for keeping abreast of the business objectives, initiatives and challenges of assigned client groups as they relate to workforce management by way of regular 1:1 meetings with department leadership, attending business unit leadership meetings and departmental staff meetings. Leverage this business intelligence by representing the perspective of client groups within HR to collaboratively drive and implement HR and organizational strategies/policies/programs/procedures in support of the business.

Effectively partners with leaders to build/maintain a positive employee relations culture and work environment by objectively resolving issues.

Conducts formal and informal investigations, documents findings and makes recommendations of course of action. Ensures consistent application of organizational policies and practices as well as applicable state and federal laws.

Maintains current and in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed.

Drive successful execution of HR programs and initiatives such as performance management, succession planning, employee development, employee engagement, and compensation administration by effectively managing multiple priorities concurrently through strong project management and effective communications.

Identifies training and development needs for assigned client groups and works with Learning and Development Manager to deliver and or identify training resources.

Serve as resource to assigned client groups for compensation questions based on a thorough understanding of BMCHP’s Compensation Philosophy and Guidelines. Assist leaders in creation/revisions of job descriptions ensuring accuracy. Serves as liaison to compensation manager on matters such as position grading and market analyses, promotional increases and equity adjustments.

Provide support to the compensation program including assisting with submission of annual salary surveys and other projects as needed.

May be responsible for full cycle recruitment for client groups during periods of high requisition volume including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and making recommendations for hiring external and internal candidates.

Within the HR department, make recommendations to improve work processes and help promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience



Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required

Education Preferred/Desirable:

Master’s degree a plus

Experience Required:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR Business Partner, HR Advisor or HR Generalist role required

Strong employee relations experience required

Experience Preferred/Desirable:

Additional experience serving in one or more specialized roles within HR such as Compensation, Organizational Development or Talent Acquisition

Previous policy research and development experience

Experience working in a Managed Care or Healthcare environment

Certification or Conditions of Employment:

Pre-employment background check

PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus

Ability to work effectively in an environment of change and manage multiple priorities concurrently through strong project management, systems knowledge, and effective communication

Problem solving and coaching skills that are broad based and reflect creativity in solving/resolving issues or change initiatives

Solid knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment laws and regulations

Ability to lead change and push against organizational obstacles

Strong influencing and relationship building skills with a philosophy of creating a high-trust culture

Detail oriented, excellent proof reading and editing skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong coaching, conflict resolution and customer service skills and the ability to interact and build relationships at all levels across the organization

Ability to work with multiple HR Information Systems

Excellent organizational, time management and analytical skills

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently managing multiple projects and producing quality results under deadlines

High level of integrity

Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other office-related software applications.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk

Limited regional travel is required including periodic travel to our Manchester, NH office
