Do you want to have a leading role in shaping a great place to work and a positive environment which engages our people, allows them to flourish, and fulfill our strategic ambitions? This could be your chance to make a positive difference for our people and businesses.

Do you believe that HR has a role to play in supporting managers and employees to be their best? Are you passionate about helping an organization address employee workplace issues fairly, consistently and demonstrating care?

Where you fit in:

As we transition to cleaner forms of energy, the challenge facing Shell and the wider energy industry in the coming decades is considerable. The Employee Relations (ER) Team has an important role in building a great place to work for our people, enabling them to be their best, which in turn supports Shell to be its best.

Specifically, as an ER Advisor you will be managing and enabling a thriving ER environment in the US, by demonstrating care and professionalism in managing individual Employee relations matters, identifying emerging ER trends and defining mitigations for potential future risks. You will also be supporting projects that contribute to the overall Employee Relations environment in the US.

What is the role?

As an ER advisor you will be providing support on matters related to individual employee relations and engagement. More specifically, your role will include:

Employee Relations and Employee Engagement:

Support ER Lead and ER Manager on projects that contribute to the overall Employee Relations environment in the US

Support the development and execution of specific culture and work environment programs

Drive and support an inclusive workforce for Shell in the US

Act as trusted advisor/offer coaching for Line Managers (formal/informal) and proactively share trends so these can be addressed

Manage individual disciplinary, grievance, performance, or other ER issues

Provide country specific SME ER advice

Identify weak signals that provide early indication of organizational cultural or behavioral issues, and recommend appropriate interventions

Undertake investigations into alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct or HR Policies

Coach members of the HR Advice team and Line Managers in effective employee relations

Capability and community buildling:

Take ownership in building a thriving ER team and wider local HR team

Drive collaboration and inclusion within HR through ‘Joined-up’ HR team/mindset regardless of reporting location

What we need from you?

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

At least a Bachelor’s degree. Preferably, with Master’s or PHD.

At least 3 years relevant experience.

The ER Advisor should be proficient on employee engagement and ER case management, balancing understanding of local legislation and practices with empathy and employee centricity:

Coaching and influencing skills to be able to effectively manage a broad range of both external and internal stakeholders

Able to identify and understand local external market trends (economic, political, social) and derive insights to drive an effective long-term ER environment

Effective relationship and collaboration skills to manage stakeholders and work with other parts of the HR/business organization, as the ER environment is shaped by an integrated collective effort

Expertise in local Employee Relations legislation, practices and processes

Organizational health/capability diagnostic and design skills

Strong diagnostic and evaluation skills – able to distil key themes and value drivers from complex and sometimes conflicting data and insights

A strong sense of teamwork and partnership with others
