Job Summary
The Field Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing effective consultation and support to company management in the issue resolution process for assigned banners/locations. This position will provide company leadership with general Human Resources (HR) support in performance management, leadership development, investigations, employment grievances, government agency complaints, researching state and federal laws, and suspensions and termination review and approval. This role will advise managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, procedures, and union agreements. The Manager of Human Resources manages and participates in planning, developing, recommending, and implementing employee relations programs and maintains policies to ensure the uniform and equitable treatment of employees.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Advise managers and supervisors on employee matters, including informal (verbal warning) and formal (written warning) coaching and counseling, and performance appraisals; mentor management and operations on handling employee issues, performance problems, and behavioral issues
Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings
Coach and counsel company managers in appropriate resolution of employee relations and labor relations issues
Identify and execute engagement strategy resolutions
Keep apprised of current company policies, HR trends, and federal, state and local employment laws
Meet with arbitration agencies and participate in settlement negotiations
Form collaborative relationships with banner leaders and key business partners
Educate managers on effective administration of HR and employment programs
Visit assigned locations to gauge the success of initiatives, teams, and associate performance while retaining and attracting talent
Act as liaison to support managers in other key areas such as Leaves Administration, Benefits, Learning and Development, and Talent Acquisition
• Educate managers on company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations and emphasizes the need for compliance with EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA standards and various other legal obligations
• Perform other duties as assigned
Location: Newark, CA - This role covers territory from Ukiah to Salinas - base office can be Rohnert Park to Union City
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong training, organization, and administration skills
• Strong interpersonal, motivating/coaching skills;
• Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment; selection, training, and employee relations
• Knowledge of business and management principles in strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources modeling; employment laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rulings
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate utmost discretion when handling sensitive personnel information
: Four-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)
: Three years of related experience
: Frequent travel required
: Basic office environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull and lift objects
