Primary Purpose/Function:

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is a K-12 state-sponsored tuition-free public charter school with emphasis in the areas of math, science, and technology. The school was designated as a high achieving school by the Nevada Department of Education two years in a row and successfully participates in many academic competitions. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is ranked as the 7th best and most challenging high school within Nevada, according to the U.S. News and the Washington Post. More information is available at


This list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Directly managing the full cycle recruitment process for six campus and the central office drafting job descriptions, proactively identifying future campus needs, and filling any vacancies with a sense of urgency to avoid negative impacts to daily operations.

Clarifying roles and responsibilities for a team as they balance employee focused services such as benefits administration, enrollment periods, onboarding, leaves, etc.

Conducting an audit on all current HR data systems and leading the team on innovating and refining processes

Partnering closely with the Executive Team member and Site Administrators to ensure strong cross-functional collaboration and sound division of labor across all Coral Academy campuses.

Collaborates on a consistent basis with school-based leaders to train, develop and ensure that any school-based HR expectations and deliverables are met

Providing counsel and advising school leaders on employee relations issues

Liaise with external service provides for benefits administration, health coverage, leaves, , etc.

Leading team through various annual reporting needs that require the collection, analysis, and sharing of talent and HR data, such as, but not limited to: Retention reporting, salary scale analysis, performance incentive development, annual team surveys, etc.

Disseminating communication, align policies, and provide guidance to school staff and other employees to ensure they are in compliance with laws related to the work place.

Staying current on all legal requirements set by government regulatory agencies (ex. State Department of Education, Department of Labor, etc.)

Managing onboarding and off-boarding for all staff at the organization

Overseeing all benefits administration across the organization

Oversee and maintain compliance with school specific state or federal regulations such as parent volunteer fingerprints, FERPA, etc.

Prepare periodic reports as requested by Executive Director or Governing Board of Directors, to track strategic goal accomplishment

Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:

Education and Training:

A bachelor's degree with over three (3) years of Human Resources management experience.

Experience in employee relations, labor relations, benefits management, performance management, compensation and other HR related fields.

Preference (though not required) leading the HR function of a not-for-profit or public sector organization. Familiarity with benefits administration and HRIS systems

A successful track record of setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making

Skills and Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws.

Excellent organizational and leadership skills

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong communication skills (verbal & written)

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.)

Experience with HRIS systems required; Experience with TalentED preferred.

Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stopping, kneeling, climbing, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Vision: Frequent near and far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed and online materials, or monitoring devices.

Environmental Conditions: Climate-controlled office setting with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate cold/heat. Exposure to weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat.
