Performance Composites is an employee owned (ESOP) manufacturing company with the main office located in Compton, CA and currently we have 95 employees. The company has been in business for over 40 years, and has a solid and diverse customer base. The company has been growing strongly for the past few years and we are opening a plant in Reno, NV to expand our production capabilities to serve our customers and allow us to continue our growth.

Position Available:

We are seeking an HR/Office Manager who has a positive mental attitude, is entrepreneurial, can thrive in a fast paced and challenging small business environment and be an employee/owner. He/she must have excellent human resources skills, great people skills, be capable of managing multiple tasks, be detailed oriented, and strive for continual improvement in processes. He/she must be able to take full charge

of this position, staff up the new plant, establish the company culture we want, establish policies and processes and establish goals and standards. The manager will be given general directions and will have the freedom and the authority to define and execute the job tasks with coaching, mentoring and coaching from the main office.

Job Functions & Associated Competencies:

Support company values, culture and goals with great employee owners.

Communicate and uphold company vision, mission and values and ensure all employees are on the team and working toward stated company goals.

Educate the employees about ESOP and get them to think and act like owners.

Recruit, screen, hire, integrate and retain the best employees who will support the company culture, contribute to the team, and perform to the best of their abilities. Utilize “Top Grading” hiring process.

Work closely with managers and leads to ensure that each employee knows what is expected of him/her, how s/he contributes to the team and how performance is measured.

Establish and maintain process and guidelines and for raises and compensation utilize objective benchmarks.

Develop training programs to continually improve the skills of the employees.

Develop objective and effective incentive programs to reward and motivate employees and teams.

Work closely with managers, leads and employees to maintain an open door policy and ensure an optimal level of open and timely communication (both up and down the chain of command). Set up periodic meetings as needed to accomplish communication objectives.

Develop and monitor growth paths and professional development for key employees.

HR Administrative tasks

Establish employee handbook and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal labor laws. Consult with attorney and consultant as needed.

Update and improve human resources systems, processes and procedures to ensure that they are effective, efficient, and fair. Ensure the employees follow the rules and procedure

Work with main office to manage the health and safety programs.

Manage payroll and ensure accuracy and legal compliance. Make improvements to the process as necessary.

Create, update and refine job descriptions and objectives measures.

Ensure timely and objective yearly employee evaluations.

Perform yearly employee surveys to understand employees concerns, problems and points of view and develop programs to address them, and to ensure sound employee relations.

Serve as translator (Spanish/English) for employees and supervisors as required.

Work with main office on employee benefit plans (vacation, advances, 401K, health insurance, leaves of absence, ESOP etc.)

Conduct recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions, demotions, reprimands, and terminations.

Manage new hire process including: I-9, W-4, E-Verify, drug test, physical exam, employee handbook overview, set up payroll, new employee orientation and ISO 9001 quality training.

Manage employee morale booster activities: i.e., birthdays, anniversaries, parties, luncheons, etc.

Set up and facilitate meetings, i.e., monthly all hands meeting, lunch and learn, year end and six month review, yearly and six month strategic planning, monthly lunch with the boss, etc.

Manage worker’s comp insurance and properly document any employee work-related injuries.

Executive Council team member

Help set and drive the vision and mission for the company

Help develop the strategies and goals for the company

Help make key decisions and resolve problems

Help drive the culture and values of the company

Office manager roles:

Answer telephone

Support customer service and communication

Support production and coordinate with main office on scheduling, purchasing and inventory

Support shipping, receiving process and documentation

Manage facility janitorial, utilities and other services

Work with main office on administering regulatory compliance

Other tasks necessary to run a small business.

Objective measures: · Employee survey results· Employee retention/ turnover · On-time evaluation· Employee growth and promotions

Quarterly employee ranking

· Training completed and updated skills matrix· Number of injuries and WC experience mod,· Legal compliance, no fines and law suits· Accuracy of payroll· Clear policies and procedures

Experience, Education and Training:

Fluent in Spanish and English

and able to translate both in verbal and written form.

Minimum five years comparable human resources management experience in company with 20+ employees.

Minimum three years’ experience with office management.

Basic accounting knowledge

Human resources management certification is a big plus.

Can execute tasks on time and work well with highly effective teams

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good at problem solving

Good interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport and strong working relationships with all levels of employees and management.

Computer proficiency (Payroll systems, accounting/MRP system, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of state and federal labor laws

Requires occasional travel to corporate office in Southern California.

Reporting Relationships:

Report to the General Manager

Salary range $57,000-$67,000 annually DOE.

Participation in the Performance Composites ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
