Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant- Expense/Payroll will
be responsible for various aspects of accounting; working in Payroll and AP and being instrumental in providing accurate and reliable data for reporting purposes.
This is a great opportunity for a payroll clerk to make the leap to a more involved position.
Own commissions calculations and semi-monthly payroll processing for inside sales staff.
Process expense reports, ensure compliance with company policy, and audit GL coding for company credit cards and business transactions.
Code and class benefit statements by department.
Participate in monthly/quarterly closing procedures such as accruals, account rollovers/reconciliations, and other miscellaneous journal entries for the company.
Serve as back up for accounts payable entry.
Process accounts payable checks & initiate wires/efts to be released for scheduled payments.
Prepare year end 1099 reporting and collection of Form W-9 from vendors.
Assist with audit preparation- including 401K, Federal, multi-State, and local tax authorities.
Perform other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as required.
Ensure all records are maintained in accordance with GAAP.
Resolve assigned accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly. Prepare journal entries for adjustments as needed.
Minimum 2 years payroll experience required in an environment with 100 employees.
0-3 years accounting experience desired.
College undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business administration required.
Experience with ADP WORKFORCE preferred.
Intermediate skills in Excel required (pivot tables, vlookup, if-then formulas).
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IRS wage regulations required.
Ability to work independently, under tight deadlines at times, and in a professional manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Flexible in nature, exceptional multi-tasker, and extraordinary attention to detail.
