Position Summary
This position plays a key role assisting with the execution of the Employer of Choice strategy by building strong partnerships with internal business partners, and providing expert consultation and guidance. Key responsibilities include: minimizing risk and exposure of the organization by providing comprehensive leadership, support in the areas of recruitment, employment, employee relations, and equal opportunity employment in compliance with government regulations and company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Manager of the HRBP’s who support the functions (Customer Service, Commercial Sales, Ops Gateways, IT, Finance and Marketing)
Consults and aligns with leadership of the business unit or subsidiary on strategic and tactical human resources issues.
Utilize HR mastery and industry knowledge to appropriately evaluate and resolve complex HR issues within a fast paced and changing business environment
Responsible for keeping updated and managing policies, processes and practices related to employment, labor relations, compensation, benefits, performance management and workforce planning.
Ensures policies are consistent with state and local employment law and provides input and feedback to the HR function with needed updates, improvements, innovation and training
Coaches management on individual HR issues, performance problems, disciplinary procedures, terminations, and promotions and provides advice and options in solving problems and coaches management as appropriate.
Drives EOS and HR Quality surveys and ensures action plans to address the needs as identified
Monitor effective performance management and ensure the growth and retention of existing talent
Implement effective benefit programs and compensation schemes in line with DPDHL guidelines
Ascertain harmonization of local compensation & benefits trends and business directive for C&B, leading to competitive position in the marketplace
Direct overall human resource strategy for recruiting, employee engagement, training and talent management
Develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal stakeholders), flexibility and cost consciousness.
Develop collaborate team culture multitasking capabilities within the team.
Partner with key stakeholders to support and implement effective short and long term strategies to attain organizational objectives.
Customer (Internal):
Regularly interacts with senior internal personnel on issues of major significance, often requiring coordination between organizational units. Consults with peers and top management in long-range company planning. Understands and leverages informal networks to get things done. Builds cross-team effectiveness; fosters empowerment and involvement.
Establishes and implements business strategies with a very significant impact on business unit or functional results. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to achieve results would normally result in substantial delays in assigned work and sizable expenditure of time, human resources, and/or funds.
People Management:
Primary contribution is managing other people. Leads a department via multiple levels of managers and supervisors OR directly supervises a staff of professional individual contributors at the senior or technical advisor level. Directs performance planning, coaching, and evaluation. Approves pay adjustments and promotions. Manages and responsible for results delivered for a major portion of profit center, line of business, business process or department as part of the executive team of a department or area.
Leads initiatives and processes for business/functional area within overall area of responsibility. Approves policies, methods, processes, techniques for business function based on change initiatives. Guides the successful completion of major programs across job areas or functions. Manages operational plans and activities that result in accomplishing business strategies. Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership to and reviews the work of managerial and senior professional level subordinates. Creates workforce and staffing plans and ensures availability of human capital necessary to accomplish planned business results.
Stakeholder (External):
Regularly interacts with contacts outside DHL on broader, more strategic issues. Drives quality and customer service. Prime spokesperson to external customers, industry groups, and/or professional associations.
Skills & Qualifications Required
BS/BA in Human Resources or related discipline.
10 years experience with minimum 5 years HR Business Partner experience.
5 years experience supervising people
SPHR strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of all relevant federal and state employment laws and regulations, including DOL, Wage and Hour, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, Workers’ Compensation and other regulations with experience in providing support in employment ligation scenarios.
Ability to manage multiple confidential situations without compromise and build credibility across the organization with all levels of mangers, leaders and team members.
Ability to collaborate and build relationships across all levels of enterprise-wide customer base and able to customize or flex individual style and communication skills to deliver results
A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Applies and/or develops highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts.
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Analyzes and resolves complex cross-functional issues.
Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of company personnel
Demonstrated negotiating skills
Proven ability to develop trusted advisor with all level of the business
Excellent English language skills including verbal, written, and reading comprehension
Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
Ability to mentor, develop and motivate team members to the success of the department and business. Reporting Structure and Key Relationships
