To support the delivery of this vision, Wokingham Borough Council has recently undertaken a thorough review of its HR operation. The new operating model is designed to ensure there are clear lines of accountability and to drive excellence in our people management. The new structure is focused on meeting the needs of the Council in a planned way supporting and developing the organisation to deliver on its corporate commitments. The resulting new structure has created a number of new roles and opportunities including this key HR Operations Manager role.
HR Operations is a pivotal function within the HR team and this role will manage a team ensuring that they deliver an effective and efficient service with the customer being at the heart of everything we do. This role has overall responsibility for ensuring that the HR Operations Team delivers consistently high levels of service whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives and effectively managing compliance.
This is a newly created role within the HR Senior Management team and therefore provides an opportunity for someone to come in and make it their own.
This role will require resilience and self-sufficiency as the key to success will be the extent to which you develop relationships and trust, with managers and colleagues across the Council but also with HR colleagues. This is a role which has a strong transformational element and a hands-on delivery requirement and is one that works closely with Payroll, IT, HR specialists and generalists.
The HR Operations Manager will also support the HRIS [BWO] improvements project and lead on the development and delivery of HR Transactional Services throughout the employee life-cycle including recruitment, induction, contract changes and ending the employment relationship. You will also be responsible for the ongoing development of the HR Operations Team, leading managing and developing the team and services to ensure an integrated approach to delivering HR services collaborating with the wider HR function.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering HR operational activity together with experience of leading and managing staff and initiating and driving forward innovation and change.
