What’s the role?

Shell's HR Analytics team is externally recognised as a front runner in people analytics – one of the newest and least explored areas of data science. We’ve delivered keynote presentations at major conferences, collaborated with universities and won prestigious prizes, such as the Wharton People Analytics research prize. Part of Shell’s HR Organisational Development and Learning, the team’s insight has a direct impact on strategic people-related decisions: from the shape of our performance management systems, recruitment processes, talent assessments and workforce planning to more focused predictive analytics on topics like safety, sales performance and the effect of home-working.

On one hand, it’s a highly technical job that involves applying advanced statistical analysis and predictive analytics to real-life business problems. On the other, you’ll be making the most of your soft skills to collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders across HR and Shell’s businesses.

What we need from you?


Master’s degree in Data Science or related field (econometrics, psychometrics, statistics, computational linguistics and applied mathematics) combined with;
Practical experience specifically around quantitative and analytical skills. Natural Language Processing or Data Engineering background is a great plus
Hands-on programming experience in R or Python is highly desirable
All-round consultancy and communication skills, plenty of intellectual curiosity and an interest in people analytics and HR
Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-experts, both in person and in writing
