The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary
(One year appointment) HR and Payroll Services Projects Manager.
This position fulfills a critical administration role for human resources and payroll services of the School of Nursing, which is comprised of more than 800 faculty and staff personnel across academic, research, and clinical units. This position will work within a team setting on multiple tasks as outlined below. This position reports to the School of Nursing Director of HR, OD and Payroll Services.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HR and Payroll Projects (70%)
Working in close collaboration with the SoN HRPS team and stakeholders, this position will work on assigned HR and Payroll related projects, primarily focusing on the following: Review HRPS files/data retention to ensure completeness and ease of access; retrieve data as needed; establish retention schedules and processes based on UW policies and practices. Conduct end-to-end evaluation of current procedures for high frequency requests and transactions to establish efficient and effective common practices for common work.

Propose additions and revisions to existing administrative processes; document procedures and process improvements;
Develop job aids for new/existing HRPS processes as needed.
Research and propose opportunities for greater optimization through existing software, data systems, including those available at UW, SoN but not yet adopted by SoN HRPS
Develop and manage comprehensive project implementation plans.
Implement tracking procedure/audit of HRPS-related documents (e.g., annual staff evaluation documents, revised job descriptions, telework agreements)
Support project/information coordination for SoN HRPS connected to new Interfolio module project(s), Workday Finance/ Workday HR integration process, and similar projects.


HR Operations Support/Back-Up (20%)
Working with the SoN HR Assistant Director, this position will provide general HR support and will back up HR Mangers, to include:
Process staff and academic student employee recruitments and hires, includes supporting hiring managers with job profiles, compensation review and job postings.
Draft confidential correspondence for SoN leaders
Serve as an approver for HR transactions and system authorizations
Provide HR support for the new faculty appointment process, including records management
Understand and appropriately implement various UW HR policies and procedures and School processes and practices
Serve as a general resource for departments and units regarding HR policies and procedures Facilitate and maintain compliant HR processes for all categories of regular and auxiliary faculty, professional and classified staff


Other Responsibilities (10%)
Complete a variety of administrative tasks as assigned, may include scheduling meetings, drafting emails and website content and similar clerical responsibilities.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field and 2 to 3 years of related experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, principles, and practices. Personnel and salary administration, recruitment techniques and management.
Knowledge and experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems.
Ability to handle confidential information with tact, discretion, and diplomacy, and to maintain strict confidentiality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Exhibit a proactive, service-oriented manner and ability to deal effectively with a diverse and demanding client base.
Ability to research and synthesize information and communicate it effectively to lay audiences in verbal and written form.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage priorities, multi-task, problem solve and exercise good judgment in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
Proven accuracy and attention to detail in work products.
Professional level competency with general MS Office applications, e.g, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ability to learn new software applications as necessary to do the job
