Job Description
Duties
At the Full Performance Level (GS-05), a Human Resources Assistant (INS) may perform the following duties involving providing support to one or more HR functional areas. Duties assigned to the entry level (GS-04) will be developmental in nature.
Processes a variety of personnel actions including promotions, separations, benefits elections, pay adjustments and other changes in employee data using an automated HR system.
Updates and verifies information in both automated and hard copy personnel and training files in accordance with documented regulations and standards. Extracts data using automated reporting applications, identifies errors and makes corrections.
Receives and answers telephonic, automated and written inquiries from customers regarding current or former employee position records, training history, benefits information or information related to one or more aspects of basic HR operations.
Provides a wide range of information concerning all aspects of the Federal
Employee Health Benefits (FEHB), and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Program to employees concerning eligibility, enrollment, and basic features.
Performs a variety of clerical tasks as needed in execution of technical support duties.
