Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), CHDB’s new HR Manager will be responsible for general human resources functions, recruiting and retention and employee benefit administration.
Job Responsibilities
HUMAN RESOURCES
Supervise, coach, mentor, train and counsel non-legal administrative support staff, including receptionist, office services coordinator, executive assistant and NBI coordinator.
Maintain confidential personnel records in accordance with firm, state and Federal rules and regulations
Advise and counsel department managers and senior leadership on HR related issues and concerns.
Assist with development, update and implementation of HR related documents, including employee handbook and new hire paperwork.
Facilitate employee evaluations (periodic and annual), including attorneys. Conduct employee evaluations of direct reports.
Stay current on all Arizona and Federal HR laws.
With DE&I Committee, develop and implement strategic diversity, equity and inclusion plan.
Arrange, coordinate and oversee firm events both in and out of the workplace, such as attorney retreats and meetings, staff appreciation events, firm teambuilding events (including location, food, beverage, audio/visual requirements, etc.).
RECRUITING & RETENTION
With COO, identify strategy for identifying and filling staffing needs.
Assist in development of programs to foster continued growth for all employees.
Work with COO through the entire recruiting life cycle for all positions.
Develop, implement and maintain onboarding program for attorneys and staff.
With department managers and COO, develop, implement and maintain training and professional development program for all employee levels. Maintain database of attorney and employee training and professional development, including development of Individual Development Plans for attorneys.
Manage Summer Associate and Diversity Writing Program. Work closely with Committee to conduct on and off-campus interviews for law student hiring.
EMPLOYEE BENEFIT ADMINISTRATION
Work closely with employee benefit brokers and COO to handle all aspects of day-to-day administration of employee benefits.
Educate new hires on employee benefit offerings.
Process benefit enrollment for new hires.
Conduct open enrollment meetings
Process benefit elections for all
Research employee benefit offered at other law firms for consideration at CHDB.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in human resources
3-5 years’ human resources experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm strongly preferred)
3-5 years’ experience supervising team of at least five direct reports
Must be accessible, direct, transparent, and possess a collaborative working style that motivates and inspires colleagues to work hard and well together, offers a clear sense of direction, and holds self and staff accountable.
Possess outstanding interpersonal skills, exhibit poise and the ability to build consensus and lead through influence and example.
Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive firm financial, business, partnership and employee information
In-depth understanding of entire MS Office suite
