Job Description:
What is the Internship About?
Process Operator Interns will be onboarded and trained to perform operator tasks under the specific instruction of qualified operators and/or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
What will the Operator Intern be responsible for?
Process Operator Interns will be responsible and accountable for safely performing assigned Operator activities to include but not limited to the following and as per training received (i.e. level of competency):
Support “Goal Zero” Safety and Environmental culture through:
Demonstration of excellent personal safety
Compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and practices
Intervention in the event a potential issue or unsafe behavior is observed
Participation in Job Hazard Analysis and other safety related activities
Achieve, demonstrate, and maintain required level of competence to safely perform assigned activities which may include but are not limited to:
Safe, reliable operation of process equipment (start, stop, and monitor) such as pumps, compressors, furnaces, etc.
Prepare equipment for operation and/or maintenance including following procedures, lining up equipment, connecting/disconnecting utility hoses, etc.
Perform HSSE critical activities such as gas testing, chemical transferring, working from heights, etc.
Perform activities that ensure unit conditions and operations are in compliance with safety, environmental, and operating policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
Conduct standard equipment rounds and unit monitoring activities
Perform corrective actions.
Create repair requests
Actively assume personal accountability for continuous personal and professional development
Actively participate in the development and performance of assigned group
Build effective relationships with team members and all SPM personnel including contract partners.

Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills
Review daily operating orders
Ensure thorough shift turnover by providing effective written and oral communications to the relieving shift and technician that cover routine and non-routine issues, problems faced, unit operating conditions, etc. as per training received
Execute all assigned operator tasks, and document and report findings when needed as per training received
Assure product quality by performing required unit production quality control checks and analysis (i.e. sampling and testing)
Perform required preventative maintenance and assist in troubleshooting potential issues and give assistance to others when unit problems occur
Properly utilize personal computers for meeting daily performance expectations and accessing plant and unit information and procedures
Participate in training and respond to emergency situations as required
Ensure workstations and the work location are clean and free of hazards
What are we looking for in a candidate?
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Preference for candidates within 3-4 semester (or equivalent) of formal education and/or training related to production operations or a related skill area such as an associate degree from a National American Process Technology Alliance program curriculum or have graduated with P-tech school within the last 3 years.
Have a minimum of a high school diploma
Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
Willing to take and achieve satisfactory results on Shell’s on-line operator aptitude assessment. A study guide for the on-line aptitude assessment can be found at THIS LINK.
Willing to support the company's drug-free work environment which includes random drug screenings.
With proper training, willing and able to lift 40 lbs with or without accommodation, and able to use safe lifting techniques with the use of heavy equipment

What type of work schedule will the Operator Intern work?
The successful candidate must be able to work12-hour shift rotation including holidays, weekends, and overtime (both voluntary and/or forced per business needs)
