JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing comprehensive HR guidance and support to our team. The Director of Human Resources will partner with management to implement HR programs and best practices encompassing all aspects of the HR function. This includes but is not limited to workforce planning, attracting talent, onboarding, retention, development, performance management, compensation and FLSA review, Federal and State compliance, policy implementation and interpretation, employee relations and engagement, labor relations, HRIS maintenance and HR metrics. The Director of Human Resources will be a trusted advisor to local Managers and Supervisors, supporting them in addressing all employment concerns. This position will be based in Vancouver, B.C. and will cover multiple sites in Canada, mostly in Vancouver but expanding to Toronto next year, and will include Sumner and Lakewood, Washington facilities from an HR perspective with on-site employees there. The Director of Human Resources will have HR Business partners reporting to them as well as one or two coordinators.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build understanding of our operations and apply knowledge in making HR recommendations to the Operations Management teams.

Participate in labor negotiations

Plan, organize and execute all HR related activities.

Support change management initiatives by delivering effective communications, training and obtaining local buy-in.

Partner with leaders to conduct workforce planning and ensure facilities are properly staffed.

Oversee local recruiting efforts in partnership with the Recruiting Specialist. This includes understanding local market conditions and developing cost-effective strategy to achieve business' recruiting goals.

Review current onboarding processes and make recommendation for enhancements.

Collaborate with Benefits team in answering general benefit questions and enrollment process.

Conduct training and development needs assessments and partner with managers to create development plans.

Coordinate HR compliance training, leadership skills, professional development and technical skills training as per business needs.

Administer annual performance management and compensation programs. Ensure program expectations are established and communicated effectively.

Providing guidance to managers regarding effective performance management techniques to improve employee retention and productivity.

Periodically review compensation internal equity and market data, provide data-based recommendations to local management team as needed.

Facilitate talent review and succession planning initiatives.

Ensure consistent administration of HR policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all related Federal and State regulations by remaining current on local employment laws.

Address all employee relations issues, provide coaching to supervisors and employees, conduct investigates and prepare appropriate documentation.

Collaborate with Safety team to ensure a compliant and safe workforce.

Be an advocate for employees and facilitate effective and timely communication between all levels of employees.
