Staff Accountant

In addition to the job duties listed below, the ideal candidate will not only assist in preparing reports but will identify variances/discrepancies and work with staff to resolve those identified items. Must have hands-on knowledge of full cycle accounting in a fast-paced environment, including financial statement reconciliation and preparation. The Ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the following areas: Payroll Full payroll cycle from daily time sheet entry to in-house payroll processing including the reporting and payment of state and federal payroll taxes along with 401(k). Prepare census data for insurance as well as 401(k) year-end reporting, prepare and reconcile annual W2's, W3 and payroll taxes. Accounts Payable Full A/P including purchase order set up, vendor set up, payment of vendors per terms, vendor tracking and follow up as needed. Manage W9's, 1099's and maintain consultant COI's. Process employee expense reports. Other projects and reporting as needed. Project Cost Accounting Review daily timesheet entry and resolve issues as they arise. Analyze project progress against schedule and budget using the information to prepare and present project budget and profitability reports. Manage and report WIP and project backlog. Prepare other ad hoc project reports when needed. Accounts Receivable Project invoicing for furniture sales including sales tax. Also backup to the A/R person for design for both progress and hourly projects. Receive and post client payments. Manage sub consultants on projects. Manage collections and prepare and file liens when necessary. General Accounting Duties Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns. Prepare and present month end financial reporting. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset reconciliations, review bank reconciliations, cash flow and revenue projections and assist in year-end close. Prepare other financial reporting and projects as needed. Contracts Assist in AIA contract preparation from a template as a backup to the contract person and assist in assuring active projects are meeting contract requirements when billing.
Skill, Knowledge, Education and Experience Requirements: 5 years accounting experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience (minimum Full Charge Bookkeeper Experience) Strong experience in financial statement, cost, revenue and project performance analysis and general analytics. Multi-state corporate and professional license management a plus. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, AIA Contract Software, QuickBooks, Deltek Ajera or other project-based accounting software. Ability to take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion. Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changing priorities. Team Player- Willingness to assist with any department functions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organization skills.
