Job Description:
Shell is looking for a Benefits Advisor who is a strategic thinker with a passion for operational excellence. This is not a typical benefit role, rather, it is a strategic role with the opportunity to make real impact in shaping benefits and policy for the future. As a member of the Country Policy and Benefits team, you will play a key role in assuring and safeguarding our License to Operate within the Country.
You will be accountable to ensure our benefits are grounded in and aligned with our global identity and company values. You will also play a key role in providing a great user experience for our employees and leaders by ensuring our policies are clear, easy to access and apply; and that they are easy and cost-efficient to administer with the support of our HR Operations teams. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) you will hone your skills by providing insights, and staying current on legislative requirements, best practices, and applications across all businesses. Accountabilities:
Act as a proactive, strategic partner to the broader HR Community and business to solve business challenges within benefit remit
Contribute to Global Policy and archetype development (e.g. leaves); as a project team member and/or provide local legislative insights, analysis, and benchmarking in order to input into the overall development
Support the rollout of global policies, archetypes, and continuous improvement initiatives including providing local insights and requirements, developing change and engage plans, and supporting leader/HR engagements
Develop and implement modern and competitive benefits programs, including clear policies and procedures to optimize the employee experience
In partnership with Occupational Health, continuing to advance the wellness agenda with the integration of employee trends and leading-edge external best practices
Lead large project management activities including change, engage, and communications to HR, leaders, and employees
Resolve challenges and complex cases as an escalation point for queries and complaints
Responsible for developing and providing subject matter expertise relating to benefits policies
Actively seek out and embed external best practices into Canada benefits and wellness programs
Responsible for the development, administration, and communication of the Shell Canada benefit programs for employees and retirees and alignment with the company’s rewards philosophy
Liaise with ER/IR, Shell Legal, D&I, HR Advice, HRBPs, etc. on policy and benefit-related activities
Provide expertise to the HR Country Manager, P&B Manager, and ER/IR Manager on local benefits topics for renewal or negotiations of CBAs, in order to enable competitive and affordable positioning
Skills & Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of related work experience
Degree in Human Resources or equivalent
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
