Lansing, MI
Base work schedule: 
Monday-Friday, flexible schedule within business hours, 20 - 25 hours/week, Part Time
Compensation: 
$18.83/hr plus comprehensive benefits package including 100% employer paid pension.
General Responsibilities: 
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organizations human resource department.
Essential Job Functions:

Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. Implement paperless processes and filing system.
Assists with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, license verifications and completing the onboarding process.
Updates and maintains a recruitment directory and distribute job vacancy postings with the appropriate resources, when necessary, with Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employment guidelines.
Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
Complete termination paperwork. May assist in the exit interview process.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Assist with performance management procedures.
May act as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
Assists with the training and development guidelines and processes; facilitates in-house training as needed.
Produce and submit reports on general HR activity as necessary.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to management.
May represent Human Resources on internal committee meetings.
Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilitie

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to represent the Agency in a professional manner. 
Must be able to adjust priorities to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Ability to meet department standards with regard to job knowledge, initiative, productivity, communication, teamwork and attendance.
Requirements:
Associates degree in related field required.  Bachelors degree preferred.
Preference given to candidates with prior Human Resources experience.
Prior related office experience strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
The work environment varies.  When in the office, safe work practices in regard to use of office equipment, avoiding trips/falls and adhering to fire regulations is required. 
Physical mobility is required for sitting, walking, standing, bending and lifting/holding/carrying objects of up to 20 pounds. 
Must be able to move around in multiple locations with varying physical environments & barriers. 
Ability to enter and access information using a computer. 
Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and vendors in person, virtually and over the telephone. 
Sensory requirements include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, environments and activities. 
Mental requirements include the ability to handle varying and intense levels of stress.
