Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Labour Relations Advisor (m/f/d) to join our Germany Employee and Industrial Relations (ER/IR) team. The position will be based at our Energy & Chemicals Park Rheinland near Cologne. In this challenging role you will be building and sustaining constructive ER/IR relationships and a healthy ER/IR climate as well as a safe work environment in compliance with local requirements. In addition, you will ensure business continuity, defend our license to operate and provide - as required - expertise on a broad variety of topics such as litigations, Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestment activities and global projects.
What is the role
Your key accountabilities will include:
Single Point Accountability for Employee Relations and Employee Engagement for the designated area of business
Manage local consultation processes and requirements
Manage external risks and ensure compliance with external legislative requirements
Provide country specific subject matter expert ER/IR advice
Act as trusted advisor and offer coaching for front line Line Managers
Develop and leverage relationship with internal Employee Representative bodies
Run proactive interventions aimed at improving quality of leadership/ employee engagement through line managers
Execute Germany-specific culture and work environment programmes incl. health and welfare
Drive and support an inclusive workforce and the overall D&I agenda for Business and Site.
Manage high-impact or high-risk individual or collective disciplinary, grievance or other ER/IR issues incl. HSSE, Compliance & Ethics
Support local crisis management
Sense what goes on in the organization and anticipate what topics can grow into grievances
Lead HR investigations, GHL complaints and other grievances
Ensure duty of care towards employees and contractors (worker welfare) capability and community building
Ensure robust information & knowledge management relating to Germany specific ER/IR content
Collaborate with HR Expertise to ensure good solid knowledge of Labor Practices standards internally and keeping up to date with the external news and development
Coach HR Advisors and Line Managers on quality ER, Ethics & Compliance
What we need from you
University level qualification
Proven HR experience gained in the fields of employee engagement, industrial relations and complex case management
Deep subject matter expertise in country-specific ER/IR legislation, regulations, directives, practices and processes
Deep subject matter expertise in country-specific employee representative processes including CLAs
Ability to identify and understand local external market trends (economic, political, social) and derive insights to drive effective a long-term ER/IR environment
Organizational health/capability diagnostic and design skills
Ability to distill key themes and value drivers from complex and sometimes conflicting data and insights
Strong influencing skills to effectively manage a broad range of both external and internal stakeholders including 3rd party bodies and government agencies
Collaboration and integrative leadership (with other parts of the HR organization)
Languages required: German & English
