WHERE YOU FIT IN

This role is part of the OD&L consulting community which includes a team of specialist consultants for Organisation Development (OD) Team Development and Leadership consulting and Program Management/PMO. All consultants will be allocated to strategic change projects across Shell on a flexible basis. This role is the Lead PMO Consultant, who, along with 3 other PMO Consultant positions, will report into the Manager Leadership, Team Development and PMO. The main purpose of this role is to lead shaping our internal Program Management approach as well as support delivery of our strategic change programmes whilst building up our internal expertise and practice of PMO support.

WHAT IS THE ROLE

In this position, you will:


Personally deliver as part of multi-disciplinary OD&L teams assigned to Shell’s prioritised strategic needs both across Royal Dutch Shell (RDS) and in specific businesses
Act as Program Manager / PMO of critical business projects
Build up our internal expertise and practice of PMO support, to drive efficiency, consistency and impact in the PMO of select change programmes and over time gain increased oversight and influence over third party PMO providers.
Work in close collaboration with OD&L, HR OD consultants and other specialists to ensure an integrated approach.
Coach and develop other PMO team members


As a leader in the OD&L organisation, you are also responsible to help drive the Global OD and Learning agenda and act as a visible community leader, engaging the wider community and shaping who we are and how we work in OD&L.

The specific Program Management accountabilities will include:


Agree and deliver a body of work, organised into programmes, projects and workstreams to agreed time, cost, quality, risk and benefit profiles, delivered within Shell's standards and controls framework
Proactively analyse variances against plan to assess trends threatening agreed scope, time, cost, and quality commitments. Identify signs that a project may be at risk and take appropriate action
Engage internal and external stakeholders such as users, customers or suppliers to fully benefit from the delivered products, services and changes
Develop and execute appropriate change and engagement plans to achieve necessary behaviour changes in order to maximise benefits
Align expectations and ensure that the decision-making of stakeholders happen in a timely and effective manner
Mobilise and lead teams composed of a mixture of staff and suppliers across organisational boundaries. Ensure they have the necessary skills, capacity and experience to achieve the required outcomes
Develop the skills of team members through coaching, delegation and providing stretching assignments
Understand, assess and embed the right delivery methodologies, in light of project and business constraints
Assess programme risks as they are encountered and evaluate trade-offs between cost, time, quality, risk and ultimately benefit, continuously managing the business cases of constituent projects and workstreams
Ensure that all deliverables, whether software, hardware, processes, products or business change are fit for purpose and meet all relevant requirements
Ensure that the business value intended by the work is explicit, agreed and delivered.


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

You will bring:


Extensive experience in project managing large scale, complex OD/ change management interventions or business process improvement / Continuous Improvement projects.
Experience of highly complex programmes operating using multiple methodologies, operating over more than one financial year and impacting an entire line of business, with components of business restructuring or operating model changes.
Talent for working in international and global project/program teams combined with the ability and confidence to work in high-ambiguity environments where senior leaders may need to be (respectfully) challenged.
Expert consulting skills with experience in managing client relationships in high-pressure environment.
Experience of running programs/projects with >10 people, with teams in multiple countries
Experience of both agile and waterfall methodologies
Strong stakeholder management and communications skills
Strong collaboration skills to work across OD&L, HR and the Shell Business
