Kansas City?s unemployment improves since September

According to statistics released on Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Kansas City area’s unemployment rate declined from 6.2 percent in September to 5.9 percent in October.
Unemployment is up 5 percent in 361 of the 369 metropolitan areas when compared with October of 2007 and lower in eight areas, the bureau said in a release. Eleven areas had unemployment rates of less than 3 percent and thirteen had jobless rates of at least 10 percent.
In California, El Centro reported a 27.6 percent unemployment rate, the highest of those reported in October, while Utah-Idaho reported a 2.4 percent decline.
