Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout North Carolina. We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist/Coordinator in our New Bern, Greenville, Raleigh, or Wilmington office.

Applicants should be multi-task oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to function well in a fast-paced environment, acting with discretion and confidentiality at all times.

Under the guidance and direction of the HR Manager, the HR Generalist/Coordinator is responsible for enhancing department functions by assisting with all aspects of staff recruiting; planning, implementing and developing training, onboarding, and employee orientation programs; the administration of or assistance with a variety of employee engagement activities; maintaining employee handbook; and assisting the Payroll and Benefits Specialist on an as-needed basis.

Primary Responsibilities
:
Assist Manager with recruitment and interview process, including phone screens, posting job ads, scheduling applicants, sending application information, and gathering feedback as necessary
Schedule and conduct new employee orientation activities including meeting arrangements and compilation of new hire information; assist with developing and implementing training and onboarding programs
Review and update HR and employee related forms to ensure forms are current and compliant
Assist with updating and maintaining Firm Handbook
Assist Payroll and Benefits Specialist in responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
Assist HR Manager is responding to general employee personnel issues
Assist with HRIS maintenance
Assist HR Manager with performance review processes
Administer or assist with various employee engagement activities
Skills and Qualifications
:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field or commensurate experience
Two to five years in a similar HR Generalist position
PHR or SHRM-CP certification or willingness to obtain same
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills necessary to communicate and work effectively with management and co-workers
Ability to understand, interpret, develop and communicate company policies and procedures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and strong customer service skills
Ability to take initiative to complete projects, tasks and assignments
Ability to empathize and defuse sensitive or contentious employee issues
