The Sr Payroll Specialist is part of a team that is responsible for the preparation and disbursement of payroll for approximately 20,000 multi-state employees on a monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly basis.The role serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers for support throughout the payroll process. Duties and Responsibilities: Payroll• Responsible for the day-to-day payroll processes to ensure timely, compliant and accurate payroll• Input and/or upload and audit all payroll entries including earnings, deductions, gross ups, garnishments, new hires, terminations, taxes, adjustments and manual checks into the payroll system • Review, ensure accuracy and reconcile Kronos timekeeping data and initiate manual adjustments and corrections as necessary• Verify and/or approve changes made by employees in MyADP Employee Self Service• Responsible for creating, reviewing and analyzing pre-transmission and post-transmission payroll audit reports• Analyze and resolve issues related to payroll, time entry and system related errors• Establish and maintain recurring payroll processing tasks Taxes• Set up and maintain Federal, State and Local tax accounts in multiple states across the US• Resolve payroll tax issues by working with the Federal, State and Local agencies, and ADP Tax Services • Understand, research, and quickly and accurately resolve any tax notices and identify situations that call for amended returns• Compile, input and reconcile any additional data to be included in the final payroll prior to processing of W-2s• Process W-2 and quarterly tax corrections as appropriate Service Delivery:• Provide exceptional customer service in a high-volume, often changing environment answering questions relating to timekeeping, paychecks and other payroll information, while paying close attention to detail and keeping all salary, benefit and other personal information confidential• Work closely with Human Resources and local HR contacts regarding inquires, issues and procedures affecting payroll and HR • Provide training and support to payroll coordinators in payroll administration matters • Identify, review and implement process improvements for the department• Assist other team members as needed Reports and Projects• Proactively apply analytical and research skills to monitor trends and elevate issues due to data variances • Assist in the testing of all payroll related system enhancements, improvements, upgrades & migrations• Create and/or run reports using ADP Reporting system as requested by internal and external parties (Union, 401k, Workers Comp, audits, etc.)• Support merger and acquisition activities as required• Create and maintain procedure manual for all job duties • Keep abreast of all current and applicable tax, legislative and regulatory rulings/laws impacting payroll. o Inform leaders of potential issues or changes and recommend solutions.
