General Overview
The Director of Mobility and Succession is responsible for developing, designing, implementing and evaluating Mass General Brigham's inaugural succession management system. The Director, reporting to the VP, People and Organizational Development, will partner to work with business and HR leaders across the system to identify top talent, manage and track designated talent pools, identify development opportunities, recognize critical roles in service of the organization's vision and strategy.


The ideal candidate has corporate experience working in a large, complex, matrixed organization and uses change management and organizational development skills to deploy the Mobility and Succession strategy.


In addition to leading a team of Mobility and Succession professionals, the Director will work with HR colleagues, People and Organizational Development functional areas (Learning, Leadership Development, OD and Engagement and Project Management), clinical and administrative leaders to reach goal attainment.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Development and Implementation
• Co-design, implement and manage Mobility and Succession across Mass General Brigham.
• Using multiple data streams, i.e., future leadership needs, critical role vacancies, and information to promote career stewardship across the workforce, develop the strategy, goals and action items for system integration.


Team Leadership
• Lead and manage a team of skilled professionals to implement the Mobility and Succession strategy.
• Provides performance feedback, growth opportunities, and coaching to team members in a manner appropriate to skill and experience levels.
• Prioritize development, engagement, personal excellence and team member belonging.


Collaboration
• Partner with business leaders, HR colleagues and People and Organizational Development functional areas to implement processes to achieve goals.
• Works closely with the Leadership Development team to achieve goals; specify and manage data collection and analysis to inform leader and workforce needs.
• Collaborate with key departments to build, monitor and advance internal talent mobility: Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Talent Acquisition; and Workforce Development.


Data Analytics and Management
• Tracks succession management, workforce and leadership development data to create a robust, enterprise-wide Top Talent pool for mobility and succession purposes.

Qualifications
Qualifications
• Master's degree in Organization Development, Business Administration, Counseling, Education, Human Resources Development, or related field; or role-related experience
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in learning, organizational development, business; 4 years directing a team and planning, managing, and organizing resources within short/medium timescales
o Preferred: Experience working in Healthcare or extensive experience working in a large, matrixed organization
• A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements



Skills, Abilities, Competencies
The Director of Mobility and Succession leads and conducts work through interactions with a broad audience of individuals and leaders at all levels across the system, including executive and senior leaders. Therefore, the role requires excellent presentation, engagement, and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas and influence perspectives on strategic matters to reach diverse audiences. The individual leads the team of Mobility and Succession consultants. This requires management and leadership skills, strong communication, influencing and coaching skills. The Director is a strategic thinker and is action oriented. As the leader of the function, the Director represents the department and functions at internal operational and leadership meetings and externally in the industry community of succession and mobility, including vendors. This requires the ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds, and levels within and external to the organization, strong facilitation and negotiation skills, trust-building, and very strong relationships with key stakeholders.
