Granny's Helpful Hands, LLC is a small, family-owned home health care business located in Minneapolis, MN. At Granny's we take great pride in providing all our clients with reliable and compassionate care!
We are currently looking to hire a Human Resources Coordinator. In this position one would facilitate the recruiting of employees, resolve employee relations issues, coordinate training, and complete the required documentation for each employee file.
Job Summary: Under general direction, coordinates recruitment and hiring processes, devises and implements retention tools, resolves employee relations issues, coordinates human resources programs, oversees unemployment matters, manages and reduces litigation risk related to human resources policies and practice, ensures appropriate/required personnel documentation is present in each employee file, supervises HR staff and administrative support staff.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
1. Recruits qualified candidates for vacant positions, screens and sources out job applications, refers job prospects to hiring departments, interviews external/internal candidates, provides managers/supervisors with hiring recommendations, administers employment testing.
2. Oversees all performance appraisal procedures according to policy. This will include annual performance reviews and, as needed, facilitating disciplinary action. Ensure that all documentation related to employee discipline is worded properly in order to avoid exposure to legal action against the company and/or invalid unemployment claims.
3. Coordinates hiring process, conducts employment reference checks, and negotiates salary offers. Schedules new employee orientation program and benefits orientation program for new hires, issues job confirmation letters. Ensure that all new employees are thoroughly trained according to the approved training program and that all required new hire documentation and orientation documentation is placed in the employee files.
4. Advises managers/supervisors and/or meets with supervisors and employees in order to resolve employee relations issues, researches and resolves problems that arise pertaining to employment status or employee concerns.
5. Provides recommendations regarding employee terminations, based on the employee’s performance infraction(s) and documentation supporting the termination. All terminations must be fully justified and based on unacceptable performance of the employee, only. Complete and thorough documentation of said performance infractions must be obtained from the applicable supervisors. The HR Manager will inform employees of their termination, when indicated.
6. Coordinates human resources programs, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, unemployment compensation management, and other special projects.
7. Ensures total compliance with all federal and state laws related to human resources, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, and Wage and Hour laws.
8. Maintains programs to attract qualified candidates through the design and placement of position announcements, advertising, participation in job fairs, and community outreach programs.
9. Develops and presents training programs, performs administrative duties that support the employment and employee relations functions, completes special projects, performs other duties as assigned.
10. , Customized Living, & Home Care licensing standards related to personnel management and training. Provides licensors with required information quickly and accurately.
11. Handles all employee grievances and solicits feedback from the applicable supervisors. Mitigates legal exposure and ensures that all company human resource policies and actions are legal and according to best practices.
12. Takes a lead role in managing legal action against the company, related to employment practices. Interfaces with legal counsel and other applicable entities to ensure that the company’s interests are being well represented.
13. Identifies areas of legal exposure and is proactive in mitigating this risk through swift and decisive action and informing upper management.
14. Reviews policies and procedures, related to HR management, and makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding any changes that would help improve the operation of company or minimize legal exposure or risk of financial loss or loss of good will.
15. Monitors employee morale and identifies ways to improve morale and extinguish poor morale among employees. Recommends to supervisor tools to improve morale. Takes decisive and immediate action to root out negativity and isolate it, so that it will be less likely to spread.
16. Institute employee recognition programs and protocols, in order to reinforce exceptional employee performance and bolster employee morale.
17. Must represent the company positively by maintaining a courteous and respectful demeanor at all times. The HR Manager will be a loyal advocate and representative of the company’s policies and upper management.
18. As this position and the company are continually evolving, it should be noted that the job description for Human Resources Manager will also evolve as additional areas of personnel management and HR need are identified. The employee who signs this job description must be willing to assume additional responsibilities, as they are identified and as directed from the supervisor.

· Ability to operate personal computer and various software applications including Word and Excel

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field
- 3 or more years of human resources experience
- Ability to pass background study, per MN DHS
