Position Overview
Lane Press is looking for a Director of Human Resources to help drive future success and to be a partner in transformative change in a rapidly changing world and magazine publishing sector. The Director of Human Resources will act as a business partner for leaders by delivering tailored HR support that addresses the unique needs of each area. This role will work closely with HR and operations staff to implement best practices for all HR programs and procedures across the business. In addition, this role will be actively involved with developing talent pipelines and implementing a new HRIS system.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a business partner for leadership and business teams to promote a collaborative culture and reinforce the vision and values of Lane Press.
Advise leaders at all levels on HR-related matters. Provide direct support to address employee-related issues.
Plan proactively to meet the specific talent needs of each area at Lane Press. Develop ongoing and long-term talent pipelines through vocational schools, associations, and other sources.
Lead the effort to identify and implement a new HR information system to improve automation, HR effectiveness, and employee engagement.
Demonstrate by example that HR is a tactical and strategic resource for leaders and team members at all levels.
Oversee the total rewards package and work closely with leadership on benefits planning to ensure optimal deployment of available funding. Lead educational and enrollment efforts.
Partner with managers to effectively address employee-related matters. Develop plans that improve performance, or if needed, provide the basis for making disciplinary decisions.
Partner with managers to implement insightful evaluations and continuous feedback processes to promote career development and improve performance.
Build credibility with leaders and teams by regularly demonstrating a solid understanding of each aspect of Lane Presss business and the challenges faced by the organization.
Seek regular feedback from all three shifts to gauge their needs and develop tailored solutions.
Work with HR Generalist to make sure there is organizational compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants, as needed.
Review and make recommendations to senior management for improvement of the organization's HR policies, procedures, and technology.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment laws.
Education and Experience
Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of human resource management experience preferred.
A driven self-starter who remains calm and thrives under pressure and who is eager to make a difference in a business undergoing transformational change.
The ability to be a true and vested partner to the leadership and operational teams.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals.
Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
