The role is responsible for the administration of Intermittent FMLA, Personal, Educational and other non medical and maternity leave of absences in accordance with Federal regulations, P&P and CBA provisions.
Administers Family Medical Leave Absences in accordance with Federal regulations; Reviews and approves leave, reviews medical certifications, determinations and timely response and follow up of same.
Provides guidance, provisions, options regarding FMLA , Policy & Procedures and CBA provisions and options to assure that new and active associates understand the program.
Under the supervision of the Manager of CLAO, administers, reviews and approves LOA requests, prepares written correspondence, undertakes administration of payroll timecards,consults with and respond to requests from associates, management, OHS, Employee & Labor Relations, auditors, government agencies and consultants. May lead and train lower level central leave staff.
* Provides instruction on a daily basis to the CLAO team, Payroll, managers and associates, in the following areas:
Analyzing and solving problems, decision making, timecard issues, kronos issues, payroll issues, running reports, leave rules for all leave types, worker's comp, 1199, NYSNA, non-union, management disability, FMLA, personal, educational, military, Policy & Procedure pertaining to leaves, working with Labor & Employee Relations on a daily basis regarding FMLA review, approvals, denials, re-certification process, determining the need for additional medical information.
Acts a preceptor provides in-service and training to new hires/tremporay personnel oversees operation workflow.
Education/Skill:
Undergraduate degree and 3-5 years of Human Resource experience, employee benefis, P&P administration, FMLA regulations and knowledge of statutory disability
Experience with MicroSoft Office software;
Organizationl skills;
Customer focus;
Ability to communicte with all levels of the organization;
Capable with dealing with the pressure of potential multiple priorities and yet respond to associates and other professionals with equanimity;
Ability to understand the strategic imperatives of the team while carrying out administrative functions;
Must be analytical, flexible and discreet.
Abiltiy to maintain confidentialty is essential.
