You will be on the front line of creating exceptional HR experiences, provided HR support to employees and Managers.
What’s the role?
As an Employee Relations Advisor, you will be accountable for:
Manage local consultation processes and requirements in line with legal requirements and Care for People
Manage external risks and ensure compliance with external legislative requirements in terms of EEA, BCEA and LRA
Manage Shell South Africa’s Employment Equity requirements in terms of committee meetings, analysis, planning, target setting and completion of all required reports and online submissions
Manage and act as focal point in case of any audits by the Department of Labour
Support the annual BBBEE verification audit in terms of the Employment Equity items in the audit
Provide country specific Subject Matter Expert (SME) ER/IR advice
Act as trusted advisor/offer coaching for Line Managers (formal/informal)
Develop and leverage relationship with internal employee representative bodies
Translate global ER philosophy to local ER Strategy and plan
Run proactive interventions aimed at improving quality of leadership/ employee engagement through Line Managers
Develop and execute country specific culture and work environment programmes incl. health and welfare design and application
Drive and support an inclusive workforce and the overall D&I agenda for the Country as focal point
Manage high impact or high-risk individual or collective disciplinary, grievance or other ER/IR issues in line with Codes of good practice, LRA and case law.
Keeping our ER/IR policies relevant in line with all relevant local legislation
Ensure compliance to all policies and applicable legislation
Ensure an adequate representation of the company at the Bargaining Council in Conciliation, Arbitration and any administrative processes
Facilitate a communication of Shell People Survey (SPS) results and development of action plans for businesses/functions as SPS Focal Point
Develop and leverage relationship with the Bargaining Council and employer associations (NBCCI and NPEA)
Represent Shell externally as a recognised expert in country-specific issues
Prevent and manage industrial action
Set up local crisis management governance and manage HR angle of crisis in collaboration with key stakeholders like Country Chair, RE, Health and Services
Focal Point for Relative Response and Accounting for Safety of Staff (RRASS), activation of RRASS, managing the partnership agreements, arranging drills for testing
Sense (also through the line and HR Advice) what goes on in the organization and anticipate what topics can grow into grievances
Lead HR investigations, GHL complaints and other grievances
Ensure duty of care towards employees and contractors (worker welfare)
Capability and community building, upskilling of HR Team in terms of ER/IR
Ensure robust information & knowledge management relating to country specific ER/IR content
Collaborate with HR Expertise to ensure good solid knowledge of Labour Practices standards internally and keeping up to date with the external news and development
Coach HR Advisors and Line Managers on quality ER, Ethics & Compliance
Proactively manage and enable a healthy ER/IR environment in country, using data to proactively identify emerging ER/IR trends and define mitigations for potential future risks
What we need from you?
We’re keen to hear from HR professionals who have at least 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources role.
Beyond that, we’d like to see the following on your CV:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (in Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or Human Resources)
At least 5 years’ experience in Employment Relations or HR Generalist and Management capacity within a Human Resources field.
Conflict Resolution, Presentations, Training and Facilitation, Business Strategic Planning and manufacturing philosophies & principles.
Knowledge of all labour legislations within South African context
Knowledge of EE and BBBEE requirements regarding HR elements
Candidate Commissioner Training at Accredited Institution would be advantageous
