The Nurse Recruiter/Engagement Officer is a Registered Nurse responsible for external and internal recruitment of qualified staff for the medical center (nurses and clinical support staff as needed) and an Advisor and champion to the Pathway leadership team and liaison to the ANCC Pathway to Excellence Office that promotes innovation in practice leadership which results in positive nurse satisfaction and low turnover and vacancy rates, and it promotes the professional image of Nursing. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the final closing date of this announcement, March 8, 2022. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience. Preferred Criteria: Current BLS provider card issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network Three (3) years progressive leadership in a nursing position with MSN preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in computer technology and common software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other electronic data and documentation programs. Demonstrated experience in program and project development, management, and coordination. Demonstrated experience in teaching and clinical leadership ability in the development of creative educational programs, research, performance improvement and staff development. [The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as a system resource across the nursing divisions to increase nurse retention and identify opportunities that improve the work environment for nursing staff (RN/LPN/CNA).nDevelops a consultant relationship with all divisions of nursing staff to build and sustain a culture of excellence within the nursing work environment and developing and maintaining clear communication across disciplines.nCommunication will include a feedback loop to capture issues and lessons learned with solutions implemented and shared across the nursing system.nCollaborates, investigates, documents, communicates, and provides recommendation to appropriate staff and leadership of the nursing work environment experience.nRegularly visits each nursing work unit area on all shifts to facilitate staff access to the nursing engagement coordinator.nServes as a resource to nursing staff for questions/ needs and will educate the Nurse managers on 30, 60 90- Stay Interviews.nProvide engagement with nursing schools and facilitate recruitment to our Residency and SNT programs, recruitment of LVNs Nursing Assistants, Tele Tech, Surgical Techs and other health technician positions under Nursing Service.nProvides leadership (chairperson) to the Nursing System Engagement Council and educates nurses on resources and processes unique to their setting.nCollaborates with nursing leadership throughout the system to enhance the nursing work environment (including turnover, retention, and staffing).Identifies systems issues, opportunities for-improvement; and/or trended risk concerns/complaints.nDevelops, implements, and participates in Performance Improvement activities to improve outcomes.nCollects feedback on engagement, satisfaction and recognition activities and programs; recommends plan for action related to trends in nursing engagement and satisfaction data.; maintains a data system to track and trend issues and concerns and provides reporting and recommendations to leadership and executives.nProvides and analyzes data at the individual and aggregate level to management/leadership teams.
