and detail oriented
Human Resources Manager who can easily pivot with the evolving nature of our workforce. In collaboration with other members of the Human Resources Team, the Human Resources Manager will facilitate the implementation of human resources initiatives to align with the Firm’s strategies and business plans designed to deliver the people, environment and culture needed for the success of the Firm.
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing the professional staff performance review program, supporting the recruitment, onboarding, engagement and retention of staff, managing the Legal Administrative Assistant Team, addressing and resolving employee relations issues, ensuring organizational effectiveness, collaborating on staff diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Firm’s policies, procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations, and additional duties as needed for the daily operation of the Human Resources Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Management:
Administers the performance evaluation program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity.
Collaborates with business operations managers to periodically review and update performance evaluation templates.
Creates and coordinates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for staff.
Leads the Legal Administrative Assistant Evaluation Committee on the performance evaluation process to ensure ratings accurately reflect performance, recommend merit increases and deliver evaluations.
Recruiting:
Collaborates with the Director of Staff Recruitment an HR Operations with recruiting interviewing, and selection of employees to fill vacant positions; meets with business operations managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Firm goals.
Collaborates with the DEI Team on initiatives to promote and empower a diverse culture.
Creates and maintains job descriptions and meets with appropriate managers to periodically review.
Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
Employee Relations:
Along with other members of the HR Team, conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Advises management of appropriate resolutions of employee relations issues.
Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Conducts exit interviews and provides analysis to appropriate manager.
Promotes a work environment where people continue to be motivated, engaged and happy.
Management of Legal Administrative Assistant Team:
Manage the Legal Administrative Assistant Team to ensure productivity and efficient coverage for the attorneys.
Remain current with legal support trends and provide ideas and implement solutions to align with industry changes.
Conduct meetings with Legal Administrative Assistant Team to provide updates on new processes and training, as well as to gather feedback and provide solutions.
Contribute to building a positive team environment as the Legal Administrative Assistant role evolves.

Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HR software.
Must be able to travel to satellite offices in Washington, DC and New York, NY periodically (once we return to the office).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and/or PHR/SPHR Certification preferred
Minimum of 5 years of human resources management experience in a professional services firm.
