Job Description:
Fulfills the mission of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. by overseeing compensation, new hire onboarding, payroll, retirement, position control, audits, and unemployment claim functions. In addition, supervises staff performing tasks related to these activities.
Hybrid work schedule may be authorized.
Salary: $67,000/year or more, depending on experience.
Essential Functions
Supervises and directs the work of compensation, new hire onboarding and payroll staff
Assesses and manages performance of direct reports
Ensures timely processing of employee and student payrolls
Maintains position control of exempt and non-exempt positions
Coordinates hiring processes for new employees and summer hires
Prepares audits and reports as required for compensation, payroll, and retirement
Oversees salary survey collection and reporting
Administrates the salary increase process and coordinates with the Finance Department
Ensures timely processing of unemployment claims and appeals
Assesses related hardware, software and processes utilized in HR functions and recommends improvements
Trains designated HR staff on compensation, payroll, and retirement processes
Leads or assists with HR projects
Ensures all compensation, payroll, and retirement processes comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policies
Prepares written and oral reports, briefings or trainings as required
Other Functions:
Assess the performance of direct reports and provided frequent feedback to optimize their performance.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and private information.
Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned
Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilized computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related system and software.
Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means of device.
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in human resources, management, business, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for some education.
Three years' experience in human resources, compensation, payroll, business administration, retirement plans or closely related field, higher education, or non-profit setting.
Certificate in Human Resources Management SHRM -(S)CP or (S)PHR preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook). ADP or Banner or similar HRMS experience preferred.
Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
Work some evening or weekend hours.
