Manager, Law Student Recruiting
to
join its LegalTalent team. This position is based in the Washington, DC office.
The Manager, Law StudentRecruiting
will report to the Chief Legal Talent Officer and will adviseon-and implement-the firm's goals related to new lawyers and aspiring lawyers,including:
On-campus recruiting (OCI) and Summer Associate Program
Pre-hiring, on-boarding, and off-boarding
Summer Associate Orientation and Fall Orientation
Lawyer pipeline initiatives and programs
First Year Associate integration
Other retention initiatives and programs
Responsibilities
Serveas the firm's primary resource and subject matter expert
SupportOffice Management Partners, Practice Group Leaders, and other partners
SupportHiring, Professional Development, and other Committees
Interactwith Diversity Committee, Affinity Groups, and employee resource groups (ERGs)
Supportthe firm's overall goals
Initiate,support, and execute firm initiatives and policy development
Promotepositive organizational culture and best practices
Interactwith pro bono, professional development, and other HR functions
Manageall processes around law student recruiting
Advisestakeholders on relevant best practices and trends, particularly in the legalsector
Manageand mentor team, new lawyers, summer associates, and aspiring lawyers inpipeline program
Retainaccountability for budget, team management, and project management
Representfirm in dealings with external partners, associations, and other stakeholders
This role's specific tasks include:
Think creatively to identify and develop strategies, includingroutes to implementation
Initiate, support, and create firm policies, including draftingfirm policies
Develop best practices in partnership with internal stakeholders
Advise stakeholders of relevant best practices, trends, andemerging areas
Develop and execute strategies for law student engagement
Develop and execute strategies for lateral recruiting of partners,associates, and others
Manage LinkedIn enterprise account in partnership with HR and BD/M
Manage job ads, posting, and candidate communications
Manage and conduct talent searches
Work with external recruiters and search firms, includingdeveloping and maintaining and developing relationships
Develop and execute lawyer pipeline strategies, includingidentifying and evaluating sponsorship opportunities
Manage lawyer pipeline programs and initiatives, including SteptoePre-Law Fellowship Program, clerkships, externships, and internships
Work collaboratively with Committees to focus objectives
Participate in Lateral Partner Hiring and Integration Committee,Hiring Committee, and other Committee meetings
Manage related budget and spending, with eye on long-term returns,cost-efficiency, and other factors
Approve expenses
Help target and build relationships with key law schools,including their deans and career services teams
Manage on-campus recruiting (OCI) process and job fair attendance
Manage resume review, candidate evaluation, and interviewprocesses, including training of lawyers and others to perform these functions
Communicate with incoming summer associates and new hires prior tojoining
Manage pre-employment offer and hiring process, includingpreparation of offer letters and employment contracts
Develop, manage, and conduct pre-hire, on-boarding, orientation,and off-boarding processes of clerks, summer associates, partners, associates,and others, including sending correspondence and forms; ensuring references arechecked; conflicts checking; obtaining start dates; sending pre-arrivalpaperwork; ensuring HR paperwork is received by HR; coordinating assignment ofoffices, telephone, computer, and secretary; verifying bar status; andsupporting local office orientations
Manage and prepare employment contracts and renewals
Manage Summer Associate Program, including selection of summerassociates, training, activities, and offers
Develop and manage new hire and lateral integration processes,including one-on-one meetings with new hires and laterals, training, mentoring,and activities
Develop and manage retention processes, including relationshipbuilding throughout the firm
Manage change of status and off-boarding processes, includingoutplacement, separation agreements, and exit interviews
Attend firm events as needed
Attend professional development, professional training, HR, andother meetings as needed
Vet and manage speakers, training, events, and other programmingfor Summer Associate Program
Vet and manage firm partnerships, sponsorships, and externalevents related to Summer Associate Program
Work with BD/M to publicize arrivals
Manage external and internal website pages, and other tools
Liaison with NALP or other relevant associations
Participate in NALP or other relevant associations, programs,training, and events
Plan and implement projects (define project scope, goals anddeliverables; create schedule and project timelines; track deliverables;monitor and report on project progress; and evaluate and assess results)
Identify, propose, and carry out opportunities forself-improvement and process improvement
This role includes performance of additional responsibilities ortasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Educationand Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
JD or other relevant advanced degree from an accreditedinstitution is required
5 years of experience in an AmLaw 100 / 200 law firm,professional services firm, or similar environment is preferred
2 years of experience in law firm recruiting preferred
Experience in the practice of law at an AmLaw 100 /200 law firm isa plus
Experience in team management and project management
Certification in DEI, Human Resources, and/or privacy is a plus
Experience in DEI, Human Resources, and/or privacy is a plus
Knowledge of legal and/or staff recruiting and professionaldevelopment best practices
Knowledge of law firm business models and economics preferred
Knowledge of DEI, HR, and/or privacy best practices is a plus

Thework schedule for this role is 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (Monday-Friday), withadditional hours as required
