The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the administration of leave; including annual leave, sick leave, and time off for special circumstances. The Human Resources Specialist will administer the Workers’ Compensation program.
Duties and Responsibilities

Process and manage all administrative aspects of various leave (annual leave, sick, and/or holiday) programs
Comply with all existing governmental, labor, legal, employment reporting requirements including any related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA), etc.
Facilitate and/or provide training (including new employee orientation) to the workforce as it relates to annual and sick leave as set forth in the Employee and Procedure handbook.
Maintain leave files
Compile and input leave data monthly and prepare reports when needed.
Answer phones and greet customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Assist with Special projects such as Support Staff Luncheon, Christmas Party, and Open Enrollment.
Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted during the course of work operations.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
Bachelors of Science in Business Administration or related field required; a minimum of one to two years’ experience in Human Resources Management.
Qualifications
Exceptional ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with a wide variety of constituencies including faculty, staff, students and the general public is required.
Strong customer service orientation required.
Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and HRIS systems, preferably BANNER.
Knowledge and practice of federal, state and local employment laws.
Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Must be able to effectively prioritize, plan, and organize multiple competing tasks and demands
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
