The Sr Manager, Canada Payroll position is responsible for the following:Informs, guides and advises managers and employees on a wide range of payroll and related HR processes and initiatives. Assesses, measures and positively impacts payroll and related practices. Serves as an influential advocate for Human Resources strategies, policies and solutions designed to meet the changing needs of the business and client organizations.Translates vision, mission and strategy into projects and initiatives with clear metrics, milestones and client-focused success criteria. Engages with senior leadership to understand and address payroll system/practice and related people implications of business and organizational change. Drives alignment and buy-in for payroll initiatives and projects.Executes case and pilot studies to evaluate and address specific payroll-related problems and questions. Differentiates best practices that will work within Company. Defines, oversees and monitors/evaluates payroll functional and operational performance against established metrics.Designs and delivers effective payroll and related HR projects that align with and support organizational strategy. Integrates technical (payroll systems/software), financial (e.g. accounting principles and practices) and process elements to ensure a holistic approach to payroll-related projects and system enhancement efforts. Evaluates the potential impact of program changes and identifies ways to increase acceptance and adoption.Provides advice and counsel in a manner that both supports and challenges client thinking. Diplomatically proposes alternative methods and approaches. Listens effectively, deals with uncertainty, effectively counters opposition and, at the same time, and builds positive and constructive business and professional relationships.Understands business and industry operations and functions, the organization’s external environment and how HR contributes to business success. Anticipates how changes in the market, industry and company might impact people and organization management, systems and policies. Able to devise strategies and recommendations for retaining and improving Company’s competitive position.Manages professional employees and subordinate managers.Accountable for day-to-day and longer term operations.Reviews company payroll systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations.Assists with evaluation, recommendation and implementation of payroll program and process changes and improvements.Understands Canadian Time Off and Leave Policies and Reporting Calculations.Collaborates with HR management to ensure payroll systems and processes are up-to-date and reflect compensation, incentive and other changes.Ensures development of effective employee and management communication.Negotiates and manages services and costs with external providers and consulting companies.Manages day-to-day Payroll operations and services for an assigned client group or groups.Implements, monitors and evaluates company payroll systems and processes, including:Bi-weekly, other periodic and special payroll processing,Journal entry, account reconciliation and other elements of general ledger support,Report preparation, including earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, etc.Payroll liability calculations,Payroll account balancing and discrepancy resolution.Responds to and addresses payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers.Ensures compliance with Canadian Governmental and Provincial RegulationsActs as liaison and maintains communication with payroll service providers and consultants.Keeps management advised of potential problems and recommends and/or implements solutions as appropriate.Experience: 5+ Years Payroll Management Experience Education: College DegreeSkills: Knowledge of Workday or related HR/Payroll Platform.Experience working with a Canadian Tax Provider such as ADP or OSV.Understanding of Canadian/ Time Off and Leave policies.Good Standing with the Canadian CPP. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. or its subsidiary (PVH) is an equal opportunity employer and considers all applicants for employment on the basis of their individual capabilities and qualifications, consistent with applicable law and without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, age, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, sexual orientation, genetic information, physical or mental disability, military status or any other characteristic protected under federal, state or local law.
