Job Goal:
The Human Resource Specialist is an integral member of the Human Resources Department who will work closely with new hires, school administrators, and other HR staff to ensure an efficient and seamless onboarding experience and a welcoming atmosphere for all school personnel.
Qualifications:
Minimum, three (3) years of experience in an office and/or professional setting, with experience in human resources;
Strong knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and Google Workspace;
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills;
Proven ability to self-motivate, and work independently as well as part of a team;
Can take on a variety of tasks, is adaptable, and can anticipate opportunities for additional contributions;
Experience working with Collective Bargaining Unit Agreements (union contracts);
Ability to multitask and set priorities for self, manage time to achieve goals/complete projects on or ahead of schedule, and work with interruptions;
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals;
Ability to streamline and simplify reports and processes;
Experience with HRIS system(s), PowerSchool a plus; and
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
As the primary contact for newly hired staff, the HR Specialist is responsible for but not limited to the following:
Coordinate internal and external background checks, such as SAFIS/CORI/SORI;
Ensure completion of all necessary employment paperwork and other related documents required by federal law;
Maintain HRIS system(s), data entry;
Assist the HR Director(s) with data collecting for various projects throughout the year;
Work with the HR Associate, ensure the accuracy of staff ID badges and database;
Assist school staff with requests and questions such as suitability, verification of Employment, and loan forgiveness forms;
In conjunction with the HR Manager, coordinate the yearly new educator orientation;
Organize HR materials for the yearly Professional Teacher Status (PTS) celebration;
Accurate data entry required; and
Complete other HR duties as assigned.
