Duties
Summary
Implement training programs
to help attorneys grow into effective lawyers, to open avenues of communication
between The Firm and its attorneys, and to encourage the existence of a
strong Firm community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the work of the Associate
Development and Diversity and Recruiting Committees in creating and implementing
programs and policies to improve the long-term professional development
and satisfaction of the Firm's associates
Coordinate and support all level
of attorney development including, but not limited to hiring of attorneys,
attorney orientation, training, evaluation, mentoring, and alumni relations
Work with all Firm committees
and task forces to implement suggestions as they relate to retention, training,
mentoring and diversity
Correspond with the new attorneys
from the point of acceptance to verify start dates, answer questions and
provide first day information
Provide assistance as necessary
in connection with securing work visa
Develop and monitor reference
and conflict check process for lateral and other new hires
Coordinate e-mail announcements
of all new attorneys
Work with the Professional Development
Committee to establish and implement new attorney orientation programs
Organize start-date orientation
activities– determine office and secretarial assignments, organize benefits
orientation, computer training, library orientation and first day lunch
plans, describe policies and procedures (including time- keeping)
Develop and administer orientation
series for new classes of associate arrivals.
Work with the Professional Development
Committee Chair to plan associate meetings and events
Coordinate and monitor the Firm's
mentoring and class dean programs
Coordinate in-house attorney
training programs including surveying attorneys to determine areas of interest
Monitor compliance with CLE
requirements and maintain records of attorney registrations
Coordinate payment of professional
state license and bar memberships
Process attorney bar admissions
Coordinate all non-legal training
of attorneys such as diversity and sexual harassment awareness
Coordinate attorney departures
Develop and maintain attorney
attrition-related statistical reports
Coordinate with appropriate
Firm committees and personnel with respect to strategic out-placement
Develop follow-up system with
identified departed attorneys to strengthen alumni/client relations
Develop and maintain alumni
directory through the firm's electronic resources and in published material
Coordinate Visiting Attorney
Program
Maintain current Lawyer Policy
and Procedure Manual and intranet page for attorney development
Act as liaison between firm
administrators and the attorneys
Complete surveys as they relate
to attorney personnel
Remain current on market trends
in policies and procedures such as maternity/disability leave, emergency
childcare, telecommuting, etc.
Support and attend recruiting
and summer associate functions and be a visible part of the Firm culture
Coordinate and consult on summer
associate training programs, summer associate rotation program, and evaluation
process
Attend Associate Development
and other Committee meetings as requested
Supervision of other staff members
Required
3 years of legal recruiting/legal
personnel/professional development experience required
Proficiency in Outlook; MS Word,
Excel and PowerPoint
Familiarity with LawCruit Web
recruiting database, ReqWired CLE database and Vi-Desktop
Strong professional integrity
and ethical standards
Excellent interpersonal skills
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
JD a plus
