Payroll Specialist Remote

Our client, a fast-growing Los Angeles gaming company, is seeking an immediate need for a Payroll Specialist with experience using Workforce Now to join their expanding Finance team. The Payroll Specialist will assist the Director of Payroll with all payroll processing and reporting. This position is remote for now, but may return to the office starting Q4 so local candidates to Santa Monica is preferred.
What You Will Do:
Assist Director of Payroll with processing semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple entities
Maintain payroll database including onboarding and offboarding employees in payroll system
Enter benefits and other company deductions
Maintain Time and Attendance to ensure streamlined and accurate processing
Provide support to employees and management related to any payroll transactions
Participate in and coordinate any payroll and benefit audits
Assist with monthly reconciliation of payroll to general ledger
Assist with system implementation and integration (Payroll / HRIS)
Assist with any ad hoc payroll related projects and reports
What Gets You The Job:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent. Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field preferred
2-3 years of experience in payroll administration using cloud base payroll/ HRIS system (such as ADP, Ultipro, Workday, SAP)
Experience using ADP Workforce Now
Strong analytical skills and understanding of payroll and payroll taxes
Extra attention to detail and care for confidential information
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel
Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service approach
Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines
Strong analytical skills and a good understanding accounting administration as it relates to payroll
Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
System implementation experience is a plus
Canadian payroll knowledge is a plus
Union payroll knowledge is a plus
