Human Resources Strategic Business Partner
Are you a passionate HR professional looking to make a difference in the lives of employees? American National is looking to hire a HR Business Partner for our corporate office in Galveston, TX. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, believes in partnerships at all levels, and has a great attitude! Experience at a company of similar size to American National (3,000 ) and with multiple site locations is also beneficial.
Utilizing a highly consultative approach and speaking from a deep knowledge base, the HR Strategic Business Partner will bring fresh perspective, new insights and a sense of partnership to the relationship he/she will build with the client's senior team. As a strong team player, this role will serve as a key advisor to members of the management team, consulting with them to provide customized, practical, and strategic HR solutions to challenges across a range of HR functions including talent management, organization design and effectiveness, and engagement and culture.
Key focus areas of this position
Integral member of the HR Team, supporting client groups and acting as a change agent in the business to maximize all aspects of people performance. Provides advice and support for organizational change with an established reputation and track record as an effective and collaborative partner. Closely partners with organizational leadership on a broad range of strategic HR services, providing coaching and consultation that contributes to the client strategy and business goals.
Responsible for delivering a full range of HR services including ongoing support of annual HR processes such as: performance management, compensation, employee engagement, talent and success planning, employee relations, and policy interpretation and compliance. Leverages business and industry insights to manage the design, development and delivery of HR programs, aligning with the business.
Collaborates with HR partners and Centers of Excellence to identify and deliver solutions to support business leaders on decisions related to talent, employee relations, recruitment and compensation. Works with business leaders to define and align the talent strategy, improving organizational performance, and developing capabilities that deliver business results.
Regularly meets, consults, coaches and advises leaders to make informed people-related decisions to minimize risk to the company, drive effectiveness and improve performance.
Strategically assesses talent, compensation, performance and change management needs and aligns multiple HR processes and programs to deliver holistic solutions to achieve desired results and impact the business.
Pro-actively coaches leaders in areas such as organizational and interpersonal communications, relationship building, talent management, performance management, succession planning and development of direct reports.
Ensures consistent application of HR policies, processes and systems with senior leaders of defined client groups.
Leads and supports the development, creation and implementation of HR projects, programs, and specific business area initiatives, across the enterprise.
Champions and acts as a role model for ensuring and developing a positive organizational culture that is aligned with overall business goals and objectives.
Mentors other HR team members, as appropriate
Works with Sr. HR Leadership Team to ensure alignment between the Embedded HR and Centers of Excellence.
Possesses the ability to manage highly complex client groups in different locations

Demonstrated skills and experience building and maintaining strong, productive business relationships within HR, and with all levels of management and executives Regular contact with members of the management team and members of the senior management team regarding strategic people issues and to facilitate decision-making in accordance with the organization's current policies and practices as well as federal and local regulations.
Demonstrated ability to influence and gain positive outcomes, possesses executive presence.
Experience in analytical, constructive, interpretive and evaluative thinking.
Demonstrated track record using industry best practices and data to create and support recommendations to sr. leadership regarding people decisions.
Solution focused and pro-actively identifies opportunities in client groups, surfacing issues and proposing solutions to address business challenges.
Versed in change management strategies and solutions, and can facilitate large change initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field and 5 years' experience. Advanced degree preferred with an emphasis in HR Management, Organizational Development or a related field.
Professional HR designation (e.g., SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) highly desirable and expected within 1 year of employment)
Exceptional communication skills and recognized leader with the ability to influence at all levels in the organization.
Experience facilitating and/or training various sizes of employee groups ideal, including Executive Team Members
Demonstrated skills and results in coaching and consultation of leaders and HR team members.
Exceptional ability and track record of building strong relationships, demonstrating diplomacy and confidentiality in all dealings
Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws as well as HR management principles and practices.
Exposure & training in investigation and/or dispute resolution techniques
High level of initiative
Analytical skills – can synthesize data and feedback into themes and make recommendations
Strong attention to detail
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Detail-oriented, adaptable/flexible to situations, conscientious and able to work independently
Consistently demonstrate a positive approach, team-player attitude and professional demeanor. Strong sense of team work.
Ability to effectively lead projects to meet schedule, budget, and quality standards
Ability to lead and manage others
Able to travel to other corporate locations at least once per quarter
