Dressing improperly for an interview can in fact prevent you from getting hired for that particular job. It is an important factor to make a good first impression while going for job interview. Here are some helpful tips for dressing properly for an interview.

Be sure to keep in mind that you will need to dress in professional business attire for initial interview, regardless of the company's dress code within the facility. Both men and women should dress appropriately and look professionally groomed for interview. Once hired, and then conform to the dress code permitted for that particular company such as casual dress, company uniforms, and jean Fridays etc but not before then.

For Woman it is better to wear a navy blue, black, or gray conservative pant suit or skirt suit. Dark comfortable closed-toe conservative shoes will act fine. Avoid wearing loud perfumes and wear minimum jewelry. Use a long sleeve conservative jacket to cover any body tattoos and pant so that they are not visible.



When dressed appropriately, it helps to go for an interview with poise and confidence. It will make a good first impression and increase the chances of getting that job. It is better to proofread the resume carefully to make sure that it is freed of grammatical and typographical mistakes. Along with be sure to do some thorough research on the company beforehand. And don't forget to turn off the cell phone before starting the interview.

Other important tips are to utilize the spell-check before printing the resume. Have someone to proofread the resume.

There are some companies that will allow business casual attire for interviewees, a better suggestion is to inquire beforehand- if in doubt go for professional business attire as stated above.

Never wear jeans and gym shoes to an interview! If needed for comfort while traveling, be sure to remove them before interview.
